I Don’t Know If I’ll Be Able to Play Gotham Knights

I am very much looking forward to the upcoming video game, Gotham Knights. An Arkham-style game where you play as all the Robins? Especially the Tim Drake Robin? Sign me the heck up! And the game looks great! We just got this new Villains trailer this week.

The problem is, I don’t own a Playstation 5, and my gaming PC is pretty old at this point. So I just don’t know if I’ll be able to play and enjoy this game when it comes out. Will the world suddenly shift and PS5s will become available? I doubt it. Am I going to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade my PC just for this one game? Hells nah. So I guess all I can do is watch and enjoy these little trailers…

Gotham Knights comes out on Oct. 25.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 7/9/22

For reasons I will never understand, this week featured a deluge of comics for me! I don’t read everything; I pretty much read and review what I want. And a ton of the ongoing series I read came out this week, like Amazing Spider-Man, Mighty Morphin, Saga and more!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #125 for a truly excellent start to Chip Zdarsky’s much anticipated Batman run! Though I do have a bone to pick with him…

Best new Batsuit

Meanwhile, I saw Thor: Love and Thunder and really enjoyed it! Not as good as Ragnarok, but I had a good enough time. Beyond that, I’ve been watching Mythic Quest on AppleTV+ and it’s as good as everybody says! That’s fun. And I splurged on the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition during the Steam Summer Sale, so I’ve been enjoying a return to that franchise. I never played Mass Effect 3, so it’ll be fun when I finally get there.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #5, Batman #125, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #2, Legion of X #3, Mighty Morphin #21, Poison Ivy #2, Saga #60, Strange Academy #18 and The X-Cellent #5.

The Best Robin, Tim Drake, is Getting an Ongoing Series Again!

Announced on Thursday, Tim Drake is going to get his own ongoing series again, and he’s going to stay Robin! This is pretty exciting news. The series is going to be called Tim Drake: Robin, and will be written by Meghan Fitzmartin, who is responsible for reviving Tim’s profile by having him come out as bisexual, with art from Riley Rossmo. The series kicks off in September.

I’m pretty excited. Tim Drake was one of my favorite comic book characters for a long time, but then he sorta dropped off when DC showed they had no idea what to do with him. He’s the greatest Robin of all time, but he’s not as dramatic as Damian Wayne, so he’s been stuck in a weird Red Robin limbo for more than a decade. It wasn’t until Fitzmartin came out with a bisexual reveal story over the past year that Tim is finally high profile again.

Here’s what the series is going to be about:

This kinetic, high-energy series pulls Tim center stage as a mystery over a year in the making takes shape. A new villain who’s been hounding Tim from afar decides to take things up close and personal, putting Bernard and everyone else Tim cares about in peril. All that and Tim finally carves out a corner of Gotham City just for himself, and sets up shop in his very own…murder-shack-houseboat?

Personally, I prefer Tim as Batman’s partner, but I can handle some solo Tim Drake as Robin action. Tim obviously held his own solo series for a very, very long time in the 1990s and 2000s. So hopefully he kicks a ton of butt in this new series.

For added Tim as Robin awesomeness, Chip Zdarsky is going to feature the character heavily in his upcoming Batman arc, with a focus on the Dynamic Duo back together. This is gonna be a good summer for Tim Drake fans.

6 Things I Want to See in The Batman Sequel (Other than Robin)

Just announced last night on CinemaCon, The Batman has been greenlit for a full-on sequel! It’s going to happen and everybody is coming back! What great news! I thoroughly enjoyed the first movie and I always have high hopes for a new iteration of Batman.

Batman in daylight

Those high hopes usually revolve around how the new iteration is going to handle Robin. In fact, this whole list could just be repeating Robin after Robin after Robin. I love Robin. And I would love nothing more than to see Robin be treated with reverence and respect in a sequel, his character done right. But that would make a boring list. I can’t just be talking about Robin in The Batman over and over again. So if we remove the Boy Wonder from the equation, what else would I like to see in the officially announced sequel to The Batman?

Join me after the jump for my suggestions for The Batman sequel and what fun we could have.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 4/23/22

I think I’m running out of comics. I’m dropping more titles than I’m picking up, resulting in some pretty sparse review columns each week! I should read more…but man, some of the major comics coming out just aren’t my cup of tea. I’m stuck enjoying some truly stupendous comics like Nightwing and Power Rangers.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #91 for another delightful team up between Nightwing and the Flash. I’m glad to see that all that Wally West madness has been straightened out and he can just be the Flash without any baggage.

That’s not how time travel works

Meanwhile, I beat Horizon Forbidden West and had a blast! That game was everything I wanted it to be, so I’m very pleased. Now I just need to wait a week to get that Horizon LEGO set. I also saw Everything Everywhere All At Once and that movie was absolutely phenomenal! Early contender for movie of the year! Do yourself a favor and go find and watch that movie!

Comic Reviews: Nightwing #91 and Power Rangers #18.
