The Punisher is Coming to Daredevil!
We all thought it was going to be Bullseye (and maybe it still is), but Marvel threw us a curveball today by announcing the casting of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, the Punisher! He’s going to clash with Daredevil in season 2 next year!
This is pretty exciting news! We were all hoping that Punisher would show up on Netflix. He’s perfect for his own gritty, hard-hitting series! So maybe his appearance next year could be a backdoor pilot for his own show! That would be great beyond imagining!
As long as they just film Garth Ennis’ Punisher MAX…
As for Bernthal, I’m sure he’ll be fine in the role. I really only know him from the first season of The Walking Dead, where he played Shane. But that was like four or five years ago, so I don’t remember anything about him. But I’m sure he’ll do fine!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/29/14
Happy Turkey Week, Comic Book fans! Did everybody have a good Thanksgiving? And for those of you who don’t celebrate, did you have a good Thursday? I had a blast. I always get together with my family, and they’re a good group of people. I made banana bread, because it’s nice to contribute something, especially if it’s my favorite dish. I’m a grown up now, I should contribute.
Speaking of contributing, how about adding some more comic book reviews to the Internet? I know I can’t get enough! We’ve got new issues of Aquaman, Arkham Manor, Superior Iron Man and more, but the real standout this week is the (regrettably) final issue of Superior Foes of Spider-Man! Why couldn’t this series have done better or lasted longer? It was so much fun!
But all good things must come to an end. Or maybe it’s that we can’t have nice things? Surely one of the two.
Comic Reviews: Aquaman #36, Arkham Manor #2, Batman Eternal #34, Scarlet Spiders #1, Superior Foes of Spider-Man #17 and Superior Iron Man #2.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/22/14
We have arrive at another round of comic book reviews, but sadly, none of them feature LEGOs or the Guardians of the Galaxy. What a week though, right? Is anybody else still buzzing about that trailer? The more times I watch it, the more confident I become in that movie. But enough about them, on with the reviews! We’ve got stellar issues of Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman this week, and mediocre issues of Punisher, Uncanny X-Men and the brand new New Warriors. Only Batwoman was the real standout, which pleases me beyond measure. Batwoman wins Comic Book of the Week!
Comic Reviews: Batwoman #28, Harley Quinn #3, New Warriors #1, The Punisher #2, Uncanny X-Men #17 and Wonder Woman #28.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/8/14
What a fun comic book week this turned out to be! Four Marvel comics debuted their new #1 issues this week, keeping the All-New Marvel NOW! going strong. Will they be as good as Black Widow? Or will they tank like…some other comic that was so bad I can’t even remember what it was. You’ll have to read on to find out!
Or I could just tell you now. I think Loki: Agent of Asgard, Wolverine, Punisher and Ms. Marvel were all good comics, well made and with some direction in mind, but only Ms. Marvel stood head and shoulders above the rest as a legitimately exciting new series. Out of the four, that’s the only one I’m definitely going to be buying from here on out. Ms. Marvel lived up to all the hype and easily won Comic Book of the Week!
As for the rest, it’s probably a matter of taste, and I’m sure other people will love those comics much more than I did. I’m sure people will keep buying Wolverine comics no matter what I say.
Comic Reviews: Forever Evil #5, Loki: Agent of Asgard #1, Ms. Marvel #1, Punisher #1, Wolverine #1.
Marvel Has Animated Movies Coming Out As Well!
For some reason, Marvel continues to try and compete with DC at animated movies. I never watched that Iron Man/Hulk team-up, but I understand it was an abomination fit only for stupid children. Welp, Marvel is trying again with the laboriously named Marvel’s Avengers Confidential: Black Widow and Punisher.
It looks maybe OK. I like the anime idea, maybe. It’s hard to say at this point. The trailer doesn’t really show much. The story is that Punisher gets taken into SHIELD custody after he interferes in a mission. From there, Punisher and Black Widow get sent on a new mission to take down some bad guys named Leviathan. It sounds about as cheesy as that Iron Man/Hulk team-up. And clearly it’s not based on any existing comic book. So really…what the heck is Marvel thinking?
