New ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Trailer!

Not to be outdone by the wonderful Avengers trailer released during the Super Bowl, Columbia Pictures has put out a new trailer to The Amazing Spider-Man, which is due in theaters on July 3. This trailer is filled with action, with plenty of Spider-Man and our first official looks at the Lizard. So enjoy!

Personally though, I’m still not feeling it. The trailer is pretty cool, and we get to see a lot, but it’s definitely still too dark and moody to be all that appealing. There’s one wise crack in that entire trailer, and the rest is just darkness. I’m not saying Spider-Man has to be all bright and colorful, like the original trilogy. I’m just saying that Spider-Man should not be The Dark Knight, which I’m sure is what this movie wants to be.

But at the same time, I doubted that X-Men: First Class would be anything special and it was the best superhero movie of 2012. So I’m definitely going to give this Spidey reboot the benefit of the doubt.

Here’s the movie description:

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Avengers Super Bowl Trailer!

I’m not a sports guy, hence no mention of the Super Bowl on my blog. But I have been eagerly awaiting the new, extended The Avengers trailer set to debut! Everybody says the commercials are the best part of the Super Bowl, and with this commercial, I couldn’t agree more. It’s fantastic!

That was even better than the original trailer! It sets up the story nicely, gives us plenty of good shots of all the characters, and show a lot of the Hulk kicking ass! And how cool was that group shot where the camera pans around them? This commercial definitely has me salivating for the movie to come out on May 3. Let’s get this hype train going, people! ChooChoo!

Death and Return of Superman 4 Hire

Marking the 20th anniversary (almost) of the Death of Superman, “Chronicle” screenwriter Max Landis gives us this glowing tribute, featuring the talents of Elijah Wood and Mandy Moore. Enjoy! It’s perhaps the most accurate rendition I’ve ever seen.

This Could Be the Movie S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier

I am oddly fascinated by the strange turn of events when toys and other promotional material give away the big secret of upcoming movies. Take, for example, The Amazing Spider-Man that comes out later this year. The villain is the Lizard, but the producers have been keeping him under wraps, not wanting to spoil the surprise. The Lizard didn’t even appear in the first trailer. So nobody was supposed to know what the Lizard looked like.

Until some company somewhere released pictures of the Spider-Man and Lizard spinning lollipop toys. That’s how everybody learned what the new Lizard would look like! Heck, it didn’t stop there. Several toy advertisements have given away the look of the Lizard without any sign of an official reveal.

Well now the same thing has possibly happened for The Avengers! A toy ad from Hasbro has revealed the potential look of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. I think it looks badass! It’s exactly what it sounds, a flying aircraft carrier. If this makes it into the film, I will be quite pleased.

Better than the Ultimate Helicarrier, which was just a normal aircraft carrier with a bunch of propellers on it

Funny and Adorable Superhero Thing

Update: The clip was finally posted on Youtube! Hooray!

I hate that I haven’t been able to figure out how to embed any sort of video other than youtube. I don’t know if this blog can even do that, or if I simply haven’t figured it out yet. So to see this adorable clip of claymation superheroes, you’re just going to have to follow this link.

It’s well worth it, trust me.
