The Dark Knight Rises Honest Movie Trailer
Anybody else getting The Dark Knight Rises on DVD today? I know I am! But try to watch it while keeping some of this video in mind:
The movie does kind of fall apart when you think about it. I mean, why did they wait 3 months to blow up the bomb if they were always planning to blow it up in the first place? And what was the big deal about insisting that a citizen of Gotham held the trigger if they always planned to blow it up? Still, the movie did have Robin, so I’m still a very happy camper. Check out my review, if you’re interested.
The Star Trek Into Darkness Rises
I know I’m not the first one on the Internet to compare the new Star Trek Into Darkness poster to The Dark Knight Rises poster, but come on!
I’m reasonably excited about this movie next year. I’ve never been a big Star Trek fan, and have barely watched any of the TV shows, but I loved the rebooted movie a few years ago, and I mostly enjoyed the first Star Trek movies when my girlfriend and I watched a marathon last year. So yeah, it should be a good flick. Especially with Benedict Cumberbatch as the…villain? Maybe? That’s definitely him on the poster. He’s amazing in Sherlock, if you haven’t seen that show. And you should.
The first trailer is supposed to be linked to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (which comes out in less than 2 weeks!), so I’m looking forward to that. The synopsis is also available, though it means little to a non-Trekkie like me.
“When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.”
I guess this ‘one man weapon of mass destruction’ is Cumberbatch, who’s based on a character from one of the classic series’ episodes. We’ll see!
Any big Trek fans out there reading my blog? What does everybody else think of this movie?
Nicholas Cage Makes Everything Better
I’m not one to indulge in the ‘Nicholas Cage is Insane’ Internet meme. Mostly because I’ve seen only a few of his insane movie roles. I like him in Con Air and Gone in 60 Seconds. But the meme persists, and people like Pleated Jeans have good fun with it.
Good times, good laughs.
The Great Geek Dark Knight Rises Project
All hail Ben “kinjamin” Deguzman as the greatest Batman dream artist ever!
According to his Deviantart page, it sounds like kinjamin is just having his own bit of fun designing characters and plots to follow up on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. John Blake as Batman, of course, but he’s got a ton more. I’ve included them after the jump, including a take on Robin and an ingenious take on Huntress that I can’t believe never occurred to me. Kinjamin makes sure all of his ideas fit with established movie continuity, and it’s just very cool. I love that kind of fan fiction creativity. And the fact that he took it a million steps further with this awesome art is just beyond brilliant.
Join me after the jump for Robin, Huntress, Harley Quinn, Batgirl and a new Two-Face. He’s also promised more images to come someday!
Could Joseph Gordon-Levitt Play Batman in the Justice League Movie?
UPDATE: This rumor has been denied by Gordon-Levitt’s people. Darn you, Hollywood agents, couldn’t you just let us believe a little bit longer? Even still, the fact that this would be an awesome casting choice is still cool.
The rumor around today is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to play Batman in the upcoming Justice League movie. The news is courtesy of Hit Flix, and really is just an unsubstantiated rumor at this point. No official word from either Gordon-Levitt or Warner Bros. And I usually hate publishing this kind of Hollywood casting rumor, but it’s a slow news day, and I think this would be awesome.
Will it happen? Maybe, maybe not. But then I’m still not convinced that a Justice League movie will be released in 2015.
I’m not going to play it safe with The Dark Knight Rises. There will be SPOILERS in this article, but I’m just going to assume that anybody who reads this geektacular blog has probably seen The Dark Knight Rises. But if, for some reason, you’re still waiting for the DVD release next week, then turn away now!
