New Godzilla Trailer Definitely Has a Knack for Drama
It’s a fun trailer, but man oh man, are they really pushing the dramatic rhetoric. That’s 2 solid minutes of men worrying about nature and power and things that aren’t specifically Godzilla. But at least we got some great shots of the big guy! I’m definitely excited for this one. But hopefully the movie isn’t just going to be Bryan Cranston sounding all dramatic while Godzilla rampages somewhere in the background.
Also, does anybody else think Cranston looks really dumb with a full head of hair now?
New Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer Still Delivers the Goods
I can’t even remember how many trailers this has been for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but they’re all still exciting to watch!
I’m not even sure if any of this was new footage or not. I think there are a few new shots of Gwen and the Green Goblin. But I’m loving the theme that being a hero comes with a price. And trailers like this really make Electro out to be someone pretty darn dangerous!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes out on May 2.
More Guardians of the Galaxy Goodness!
Can I just say that there are few things I hate more than actors talking about their roles? It’s like nails on a chalkboard. It just sounds like such pretentious drivel. I realize actors put a lot of work into getting in character, and they understand the characters they play, but especially with superhero roles, they just sound so fake. It’s like the marketing department told them exactly what to say.
But I’m still in a Guardians of the Galaxy mood, and they were nice enough to put a few videos out yesterday.
Well that’s the new poster. The videos are after the jump! They also feature the first spoken one-liner from Rocket Raccoon, so that’s definitely a big deal. Just try not to be as disgusted as I am with the canned actor interviews.
The New Cast of the Fantastic Four!
The new Fantastic Four movie got a little bit closer today with the announced cast: Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Kate Mara as the Invisible Woman, Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch and Jamie Bell as the Thing. The only one of the four I’m all that familiar with is Kate Mara, and I’ve liked what I’ve seen. I saw Jordan in Chronicle, and Jamie Bell in The Eagle, and I’m pretty sure both were good. So I am definitely confident about this quartet!
The Hollywood Reporter says they’re all close to closing the deals, so they’re all pretty much a sure thing.
Obviously, of note is the fact that the the new movie is going to make the Human Torch black. But who gives a flying poop? I am no comic book adaptation purist. If the new creative team has some new ideas, then I’m all in favor of trying them out. The only thing that annoys me is when the creative changes miss the point of the characters in the first place, like the altered origin for the Punisher in the Thomas Jane movie.
I am all for cosmetic changes to the Fantastic Four. Look at the first films; did making Jessica Alba a blonde help or hinder the movie? And Reed Richards absolutely does not need those stupid white tufts of hair at his temples. I definitely support creating a younger Fantastic Four for the new reboot.
The director is going to be Josh Trank, who directed Chronicle. That was a fun film, so I have faith enough in him to pull this off. And anyone interested in more of my thoughts can check out this previous List of Six of things I’d like to see in the reboot. The list is more than a year old, though, so some parts of it might not hold up. I think it’s still a solid blueprint for a good reboot, but of course I would think that.
What do you henchpersons think about the new cast? And the reboot itself?
First Guardians of the Galaxy Poster is Here – And I Like It!
Guardians of the Galaxy could represent the future of Marvel movies. Have they earned enough clout and reputation to get people to see a movie starring characters they’ve never heard of before? I sure hope so!
I thought that was a really good trailer. This is clearly Chris Pratt’s year. He just starred in the hugely popular The LEGO Movie, and now he might be the best part of Guardians of the Galaxy. I thought he was really funny and personable in that trailer. It worked great. I only wish the other characters had some lines in the trailer. This was the perfect opportunity to introduce audiences to Rocket Raccoon, Groot and the others. I at least expected a one-liner at the end of the trailer from Rocket. Heck, even Gamora didn’t get anything more than a sultry bare-back shot.
I want some Rocket Raccoon!
