X-Men: Days of Future Past Tries Really Hard, One Last Time, to Get Us to Like Quicksilver

The final trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past landed on the Internet today, and it include an extended sequence of Quicksilver in action. From everything I’ve heard about his limited role in this film, I’m fairly certain FOX is just playing up Quicksilver as much as possible to get ahead of Avengers 2. From Day One, FOX has really tried to stick it to Marvel using Quicksilver.

See for yourself.

From what I’ve read online, Quicksilver is only going to be used to help break Magneto out of prison, as you can see in that trailer. They’re not even going to reference the fact that, in the comics, Quicksilver is Magneto’s son. His parentage not going to come up in the movie. He has this one scene and then I believe he’s out of the film.

But as you can see, he’s the focal point of the final trailer.

Though something tells me that Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to win out in the end.

Personally, I think Days of Future Past could be a lot of fun, but it also looks like a lot of…everything. There’s so much stuff going on in this trailer. Dozens of new mutants, complicated time travel, Sentinels, Iceman, the joining of the two X-franchises; part of me fears this is all just going to be a hot mess.

How Frozen Should Have Ended

I always love a good Iceman joke.

Though personally, I would have ended Frozen way differently. I liked the movie, sure, but what really bugged me was the romance angle. Obviously, that rich duke guy was evil; we knew it from the very first moment he appeared on screen. But for a little while, I kind of hoped he was going to be legit. His evil turn kind of comes out of nowhere. I thought for sure that Anna would end up with the rich duke and that the lumpy lumberjack guy would end up with Elsa.

But the moment the lumpy lumberjack started racing back to town with Anna, determined to get her to her ‘one true love’, the rest of the film was pretty obvious and painfully predictable. Alas, poor Frozen.

Also, what was up with the trailers having no idea what the movie was about?

Training Dragons is Still All the Rage

I liked the first one, and I’m definitely looking forward to How to Train Your Dragon 2. It’s a fun little franchise. Though I’m always a little annoyed when seemingly ordinary protagonists are  retconned to having been the chosen one all along. Hiccup’s mom just happened to already be an experienced dragon rider? So Hiccup’s discovery of tamable dragons, and becoming the first dragon rider of his village, is no longer much of an accomplishment.

The 6 Best Little Sisters in Pop Culture

My little sister’s birthday was last week, and I’m still having a hard time believing that she’s in her mid-20s. It helps that we live several states apart and only see each other on the major holidays. But still, come on, world! Cut me some slack! There’s no way she’s that old now. Regardless of age, I still love her, and the best way I know how to show love these days is with a List of Six dedicated to her.

This also qualifies as her birthday present.

“Happy Birthday to you…”

I did a similar list a few years ago for my brother around his birthday. But in researching this list, I discovered that brothers are a much bigger deal in pop culture than sisters. His list was all about awesome brother teams, like Mario and Luigi, but that sort of thing apparently doesn’t exist very often in pop culture when it comes to sister siblings. What’s up with that? Besides the obvious gender inequality inherent in all of fiction.

Still, I ain’t buying her a real present. So here’s a list of the 6 coolest little sisters in pop culture!

Leonardo is the Best Ninja Turtle

If you need any more proof that Leonardo was the best Ninja Turtle, look no further than these badass new movie posters. Leo’s katana blade looks righteous.

It’s a slow news day, and these babies popped up on the Interwebs as a helpful reminder that Leonardo is the best turtle. I even like his new look the best out of all of the Turtles in the new movie, which comes out on Aug. 8. Though I’m not sure what to make of Johnny Knoxville being brought in at the last minute to dub over his lines. Why Johnny Knoxville of all people?

You can see the rest of the posters after the jump!
