Some Weird Movie Trailers for Wednesday
It’s Wednesday. Life is OK. Let’s start today with some pretty far out movie trailers. And by ‘far out’ I mean just plain weird. And by ‘weird’ I mean they’re pretty typical for the sort of movies we get these days.
First up is a full trailer for the Minecraft movie, in which they actually use the meme phrase ‘children yearn for the mines,’ to which I applaud them.
Man, I just don’t know. I enjoyed Minecraft when I played for that one brief period, building all sorts of neato stuff in my private little world. I still like Jack Black. And, honestly, this trailer sold me on the idea of having people from the real world go into Minecraft and use the world just like the game. They can place blocks, use the forge, chop down trees by punching them; it’s just Minecraft with real people! That’s kinda neat.
Minecraft comes to theaters on April 4 next year.
Next up is the live action trailer for How to Train Your Dragon, proving that Disney isn’t the only one who can make live action version of classic animated films.
This looks so bad. This looks so unnecessary. Toothless looks exactly the same. Did the lesson Dreamworks learn from the Disney live action movies is to not deviate at all and just make the exact same movie but in live action? I hated when Disney did that with Lion King. This one does not look appealing at all. But it’s happening, so I’m sharing the trailer.
How to Train Your Dragon comes to theaters on June 13 next year.

Let’s Start This Week with Some Sweet Marvel Trailers
I’m not going to become a doom and gloom blog and I’m not going to let my newfound nihilism hamper my love of pop culture. I bought both the LEGO X-Mansion and Bumblebee sets this weekend, and have collected all of Chip Zdarsky’s critically acclaimed Daredevil run. So retail therapy has been helpful.
What’s also helpful is that a couple of new, awesome Marvel trailers came out this weekend from a Disney event in Brazil! I remain an ardent MCU fanboy and am very much looking forward to next year’s plethora of content.
First up is Captain America: Brave New World.
Looks awesome! After that first trailer and the positive response, Marvel clearly invested in some good trailer people. I like the political intrigue. Red Hulk looks fun. They do some good work with Sam Wilson flying everywhere. I have a lot of high hopes for this one.
Captain America 4: Brave New World comes out on Feb. 14.
Next up is Thunderbolts*, which I’m even more excited about.
Thunderbolts* is like the first Avengers film. We take all of these random characters from the past few movies and shows and then bring them together and let them banter and bounce off one another. They’re not as famous as the Avengers characters, but it’s going to work for me if they have fun with it. These are the grungy, grimy Avengers and these are some great characters to use.
Thunderbolts* comes to theaters on May 2.

Did You See This Sweet Marvel Disney+ Trailer?
To coincide with the Agatha All Along finale, Marvel put out this sizzle reel of upcoming Disney+ releases. This teaser trailer delivers our first official looks at Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and, especially, Wonder Man! Everything looks so good!
I remain a staunch fan of Marvel Studios content. Agatha All Along was very good and I really enjoyed the finale. And I can’t wait for these shows! I know people aren’t too excited for Ironheart, but I think it looks good! I prefer my Iron People to be nuts and bolts, not nanomachines. And Wonder Man could be a real sleeper hit. Daredevil: Born Again will hopefully live up to all the hype. And the various cartoons should be a hoot!
Granted, this means 2025 is going to be full of Marvel content, with three movies and now half a dozen shows. But I think Marvel just needs to burn off all these completed projects before they slow their releases. And I’m all for it!

6 Thoughts on Venom: The Last Dance (Review)
Man, I really hated Venom: The Last Dance. Everything about this movie bugged the heck out of me. And I’m not some hater. I actually mostly enjoyed the first two films, and even gave them positive reviews on this same blog. So I went into Venom 3 with relatively OK expectations. Those very same expectations were very quickly dashed.
Movie Rating: 2/10 – Very Bad
Something went wrong with this movie. Was it edited to within an inch of its life? Did nobody care? Did SONY throw in the towel immediately after Morbius and Madame Webb and just not bother with Venom 3, despite the box office success of the earlier films? Why was the editing so sloppy? Why was the script so terrible? Did anyone actually care about making this franchise work? Ugh.
Anyway, join me after the jump for my thoughts and full review of Venom: The Last Dance. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole film because I’m just going to ramble on about it however I feel like.
