6 Spider-Man Villains Who Don’t Deserve Their Own Movie (Just Like Morbius)

At long last, the Morbius movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters this week (barring any last second delays!). Early reviews peg this thing as a total flop, and I expected nothing less. The trailers looked bad, for one, and for two, Morbius sucks. He just plain sucks as a character.

Don’t look at me like that

Honestly, the behind-the-scenes studio meddling in the Spider-Man franchise is sometimes more interesting than the movies themselves. Sony is on this roller coaster of making good movies, then bad movies, then worse movies, then throwing Marvel a bone and making incredible movies, to getting a big head and making bad movies again. The idea that Sony is determined to make their own Spider-Man villain mini-universe of films is hilarious to me. They’re already working on a stand alone Kraven the Hunter movie. When will it end?

Hopefully before any of the following characters get their own stand alone movies! Join me after the jump for six crappy Spider-Man villains who will hopefully never get their own movies.

The First Ms. Marvel Trailer Looks Great!

I am very excited for the Ms. Marvel TV show. I love the character, I have full faith in Marvel Studios, and sometimes we do get to have nice things. The first trailer arrived earlier this week and I’m finally sharing it!

I think this looks great! It looks fun, it looks joyous, it looks youthful; I really think this show is going to do right by Kamala Khan. I’m a little disappointed that they changed her powers, but to be honest, I never really dug her stretching powers in the first place. So I have faith in the showrunners making good hay out of the changes. And new actor Iman Vellani seems perfect in the role.

Did you see her thanks video after the trailer came out? Adorable!

Very hyped and excited for this show! Ms. Marvel comes to Disney+ on June 8!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/12/22

Happy Wedding, everybody! If you’re reading this on the day of release, my sister is getting married today and I’m out celebrating and being a good big brother. Thankfully, I had enough time before I had to leave to read and review some comics, like Batgirls, Strange Academy and more!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman: Son of Kal-El #9. This crossover with Nightwing has been the best thing this new Superman has done so far in this series, and I only wish that magic could remain.

Nightwings

Meanwhile, I broke down and bought Horizon Forbidden West, even though I won’t have time to play it until after I get back from my trip. I guess I just wanted to spend that money. I also started the TV show Reacher, which is pretty fun and simple so far. I’ll finish that when I get home as well.

Comic Reviews: Batgirls #4, Mighty Morphin #17, Superman: Son of Kal-El #9, Strange Academy #17 and Thor #23.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/5/22

Good news and bad news, everybody! The good news is I’ll be going to see The Batman today and I’m expecting to have a good time! The bad news there might not be reviews next week, as I will be out of state attending my sister’s wedding! That’s good news for her! But we’ll see if I have any time before I leave to read and review some comics.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Static: Season One #6 for an awesome, heroic finale to this first storyline. Not sure why this comic needs seasons, but this season finale was cool as heck.

One opportunity…to seize everything you wanted…

Meanwhile, I beat Pokemon Legends: Arceus and now I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to splurge on Horizon Forbidden West yet, at least not until after I get back from my sister’s wedding next weekend. So maybe I’ll take up reading for the next week? We’ll see.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #91, Batman #121, One-Star Squadron #4, She-Hulk #2, Static: Season One #6 and X-Men #9.

Movie Trailer Tuesday Presents Morbius and Secrets of Dumbledore

We’ve got a big Batman movie coming out this weekend, so big studios are putting out big trailers for their next big movies. That’s how this system works. The problem is that I don’t particularly care about Morbius or Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

I have as much interest in the upcoming Morbius movie as I do in the character of Morbius himself, which is very little. I think this movie is going to flop hard.

I just don’t find anything about this movie appealing. I don’t like Jared Leto in the lead role. I don’t like the CGI vampire facepaint. I don’t like the weak attempt to cast him as an anti-hero. I don’t like all the cringy references to Venom. I don’t like shoehorning Adrian Toomes into this movie to try and leech off the MCU. None of it looks good!

Then we’ve got The Secrets of Dumbledore, a seemingly sad and pathetic attempt to keep this franchise alive.

Don’t get me wrong, Harry Potter is still a strong franchise. I’m probably gonna play that Harry Potter video game when it comes out, but mostly because I love create-a-character open world games. But surely the franchise has taken a lot of hits lately, what with J.K. Rowling coming out as a huge bigot and the last Fantastic Beasts movie just being pretty bad.

But they’re trying again, so I guess more power to them?

Both Morbius and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore come out in April.
