6 Marvel Superhero Teams Based in California

I was off last week on a trip to California for a cousin’s wedding. It was a fun trip, book-ended by some pretty horrendous flying experiences. I’m trying to think positively, though, so I’ve decided to do a List of Six based on superheroes in California! There aren’t as many as you think.

Huh, Moon Knight

Famously, almost all of Marvel Comics superhero antics take place in New York City. It’s where the Marvel Comics offices were based, so they wrote and drew about what they knew. But they also had to acknowledge that other superheroes existed in the rest of the world. And, occasionally, Marvel has paid a visit to the West Coast to check out some superhero antics on the other side of this great country. Let’s explore their weird history, shall we?

Join me after the jump for some pretty unique and eclectic superhero teams that Marvel placed in California.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/28/22

If you’re reading this post when it goes up on Saturday morning, I am already on my way to sunny California! Should be a fun vacation. Thankfully, I was able to read and review a couple of this week’s pretty good comics before heading to the airport.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Legion of X #1. I was definitely looking forward to this comic and it mostly did not disappoint.

I always like Kurt with a goatee

Meanwhile, the third season of Love, Death, Robots turned out to be pretty darn good on Netflix. Definitely worth a watch. While Mike Meyers’ big return, The Pentaverate, was so bad that I stopped watching halfway through. It was only six half-hour episodes, but I still couldn’t bring myself to keep watching.

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #2, Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #3, Legion of X #1 and Saga #59.

6 Things I Want to See in a Revived Daredevil Show

Quite recently, the Hollywood trades confirmed the swirling rumors that Marvel Studios is going to bring back the Daredevil TV show that aired for three seasons on Netflix. They’re bringing back Charlie Cox as Daredevil and, if word is to be believed, it’s going to be something of a soft reboot. The first three seasons will still have happened, but the show will perhaps get a fresh coat of paint.

This isn’t even his final form

I am all in favor of this idea. I very much enjoyed the Daredevil show, and I’m super pleased at the idea of it coming back. Obviously Disney and Marvel can do whatever they want with the Daredevil brand/franchise, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That original show was pretty spectacular, and if courting the fans is something you’re keeping in mind, then definitely revive and refresh instead of reboot. It makes sense.

But what’s the new show going to have? Join me after the jump for six ideas I want to see as we move from old show to new. And feel free to share some of your own thoughts/hopes/dreams in the comments!

Gorr the God Butcher Steals the Show in the New Thor 4 Trailer

Only a few short weeks after that awesome teaser, we’ve now got a full trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie looks great, and then Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher villain shows up and looks freaky as hell!

Like all other sane human beings, I can’t wait for Thor: Love and Thunder. Ragnarok was amazing and hilarious, and everybody is back to make another one of those. Taika Waititi is a hell of a director and I can’t wait to see what he brings to the table for this new one. For example, holy cow, Gorr the God Butcher looks sublime in this new trailer.

We’ve had some toy and promo artwork revealed for the character, and who knew what it would all translate into. Now that we’ve got him on screen, in full makeup, doing his Christian Bale thing, Gorr looks great. I am thrilled at how he looks.

I’m thrilled about the whole dang thing! Thor: Love and Thunder comes to theaters in, like, a month on July 8.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/21/22

Another week, another sizeable pile of comics. This one had a bunch of X-Men comics, which is always fun. And even a surprise review, like Savage Avengers for some reason. You just never know what sort of mischief I’ll get up to.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Nightwing #92 for some wonderful character moments and some really clever writing. This book definitely deserves all the awards nominations it just earned!

This is missed

Meanwhile, I watched the second season of Russian Doll and was mostly lost and confused. Perhaps it’s not such a bad thing that show has been forgotten. I also started the Lincoln Lawyer for some reason…don’t ask.

Comic Reviews: Immortal X-Men #2, Nightwing #92, Power Rangers #19, Savage Avengers #1, The X-Cellent #3 and X-Men Red #2.
