6 Things I Want to See in a Revived Daredevil Show
Quite recently, the Hollywood trades confirmed the swirling rumors that Marvel Studios is going to bring back the Daredevil TV show that aired for three seasons on Netflix. They’re bringing back Charlie Cox as Daredevil and, if word is to be believed, it’s going to be something of a soft reboot. The first three seasons will still have happened, but the show will perhaps get a fresh coat of paint.
I am all in favor of this idea. I very much enjoyed the Daredevil show, and I’m super pleased at the idea of it coming back. Obviously Disney and Marvel can do whatever they want with the Daredevil brand/franchise, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That original show was pretty spectacular, and if courting the fans is something you’re keeping in mind, then definitely revive and refresh instead of reboot. It makes sense.
But what’s the new show going to have? Join me after the jump for six ideas I want to see as we move from old show to new. And feel free to share some of your own thoughts/hopes/dreams in the comments!
6. Bring everybody back!
Simply put, don’t recast anybody. All of the original actors were perfect in their roles, and it would be a damn shame to recast any of the roles. Obviously Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have already appeared in the MCU as Matt Murdoch and Wilson Fisk respectively, so surely they’re coming back. But I want Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson and so many more. Heck, I want this to also signal a return of the full Netflix Defenders lineup! Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and even Danny Rand should all be on the table to return and exist in this soft reboot world.
5. New costume
So the Daredevil costume from the Netflix show was good…but I think we can all agree there’s a reason Matt went back to black in season three, and it wasn’t just because of Bullseye. That black suit with the plain black mask was cool as hell. But Daredevil needs a proper suit. He needs one designed by the best of the best of the Marvel Studios costume designers. And I wouldn’t be opposed to adding a bit of yellow, or having the “DD” logo somewhere on the chest.
4. More courtroom stuff

Matt Murdoch is not just a brutal vigilante in a costume. It’s also very unique and important to the character that he’s also a lawyer. And as much as it rubs me the wrong way how poorly TV shows actually handle courtrooms, I would still like to see more of Matt in the courtroom. He’s supposed to be a great lawyer, but he was always pretty crummy in the first three seasons. He’s supposed to show up in the She-Hulk TV show this summer, so perhaps that will give him some courtroom bonafides before he gets back to it in his own show.
3. No more Hand
The Hand are classic Daredevil baddies that have caused a lot of problems for Ol’ Hornhead over the years. They were also the major villains for a lot of the Marvel Netflix shows, including the Defenders crossover…and that all sucked! All these heroes gathered and they have to fight some nondescript ninjas and Sigourney Weaver in a boardroom. The Hand was a bad choice as the major crossover villain, and it would be a damn shame if they came back to dragon down the revived show. Disney and the MCU are far more comfortable with creative super-villains and don’t need to keep it grounded. So leave the Hand behind!
2. Stilt-Man
Speaking of creative super-villains, we need Stilt-Man. He was teased in the first season of Daredevil, and the She-Hulk show is going to introduce Frog-Man. So why not go for it? Why not be awesome and bring Stilt-Man to glorious life! He’s a classic Daredevil villain and he would be a real fascinating treat to pull off. How would they make it happen? It would be a really crazy challenge, and I know the Disney+ people could do it.
1. Pick up where Bullseye left off
Daredevil season three told an amazing story with a villain who was clearly Bullseye, just not yet a named and costumed version. And the show coming to an end without making Bulleye a real, comics-accurate deal, was a damn shame. But it’s one that can easily be rectified by just picking up where the original storyline left off. Obviously some soft reboot bits and pieces will need to be written to smooth things over. But bring back actor Wilson Bethel and go full Bullseye. Get the costume. Get the vicious streak. Have a real hero vs. villain showdown. I don’t want them to kill Karen Page, but having a real, awesome Bullseye in the show would be a great choice.
