Let’s Just Keep Talking About Spider-Man!
I’m definitely loving the Spider-Man video game on Playstation 4! It’s just plain great! So great, that I fear I’ve almost beaten it! This game was supposed to sustain me for a couple weeks! Why does it have to be so much fun and yet so quick?
Either way, our friends at Tell It Animated jumped on that sweet Spider-Man search engine glory and did up a video of his movie costumes!
Those are some talented animators at Tell It Animated! Somebody get them an Emmy! Or however that works…I’ve got more video games to play.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/8/18
Not only was this the week of my birthday, but it is such a comic book geekery week! I’m currently up to my eyeballs in hours playing the new Spider-Man video game, which is great. But I’m also watching the new season of Iron Fist, which ain’t half bad (so far)! And I’m on vacation from work! This has been a good week!
Not many comics came out this week that I wanted to read and review. Of the few, Comic Book of the Week goes to the new issue of Tom King’s Batman as he finally tackles Dick Grayson, who holds a special place in my heart.
If Tom King ever does a Tim Drake issue about his history as the best Robin, there’s a very good chance I might have to retire.
Ugh, new issues of both Avengers and Justice League also came out this week and I couldn’t bring myself to care. I wanted to cover both books, since they’re running simultaneously. But man, I can’t drum up any interest. Even when I’m on vacation and have nothing but time on my hands, I couldn’t find the interest to get caught up. Forgive me.
Comic Reviews: Asgardians of the Galaxy #1, Batman #54 and Captain America #3.
It’s Finally Time to Play Spider-Man!
The wait is over! The day is here! The Spider-Man video game comes out for the Playstation 4 and everybody is crowing about it on the internet! High praise all around! Looks like it’s going to be a ton of fun! Thank the stars I splurged on that PS4 after all!
I’m gonna head out soon to pick up the game, but I’m no streamer, so I won’t be posting any footage on this blog here. So how about I rely on footage from other people? Like this cool launch trailer from Marvel and SONY.
Or hey, how about this long video detailing the technical and graphical achievements of the game, courtesy of digitalfoundry?
Yeah, these videos should cover everything while I spend the day playing video games.

Speaking of Movie Superheroes, Here’s Captain Marvel!
The first official look at Captain Marvel has arrived, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly! And actor Brie Larson looks pretty darn awesome on the magazine cover!
I like the look! Captain Marvel looks great! The EW article talks about the plot of the movie, with Carol Danvers fighting aliens both in space and back on Earth. Nick Fury and Coulson will guest star, and I’m kind of excited for more Ronan the Accuser. I think it’d be neat to see him doing something else beyond his psychotic zealot role in the first Guardians of the Galaxy.
Here’s a link to a couple of official pictures from the film, showing off the Skrulls and a couple more surprise characters! At least one surprise character, for sure.
Hooray, Captain Marvel!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/1/18
Welcome to a surprise women’s week in comic book review land! It’s a Fifth Wednesday, so there wasn’t much to choose from this week. But it just so happens that three of my favorite comics came out this week: Ms. Marvel, Runaways and X-23. And it just so happens that all three comics not only star mostly female main casts, but all three are also written by women! That’s pretty darn neat, if I do say so myself!
Rainbow Rowell’s Runaways wins Comic Book of the Week, beating out the grand finale of Power Rangers: Shattered Grid. Sorry to all Power Rangers fans.
Meanwhile, for anyone curious, we don’t yet know the fate of the Mimic in the Extermination mini-series. But there’s no way that the universe keeps one of my all-time favorite obscure comic book characters alive now that he’s been dragged out of comic book limbo. His revival from totally obscure to slightly less obscure and totally badass is probably at an end.
Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – Shattered Grid #1, Ms. Marvel #33, Runaways #12 and X-23 #3.
