My 6 Favorite Dragonball Z Characters
I have been on a real Dragonball Z kick recently. It owes a lot to the fact that I’m currently a master fighter in the new video game Dragonball Xenoverse! The game is a fast-paced, energy-blasting, butt-whooping battle game featuring not only a wealth of DBZ characters, but also my own original create-a-character! I love create-a-character modes in video games, especially unique games like Xenoverse.
The excitement of going Super Saiyan with my own original character is pretty awesome.
Of course, playing a DBZ video game got me back into watching the DBZ cartoon, because I haven’t actually seen the whole thing. My brother got me into DBZ back in high school, and I started watching week days after school during the Cell Saga. Since then, I’ve gone back and watched all of the earlier episodes, but until this month, I had never seen a single episode of the show’s climactic Buu Saga! Consider that rectified!
To celebrate my utterly random re-interest in Dragonball Z, I decided to make this week’s List of Six about all of my favorite characters! And feel free to bask in the nostalgia and share some of your own in the comments!
6 Things I Would Want in a Justice League TV Show
Rumors and news tidbits have been swirling for a few weeks now that Warner Bros’ next live action superhero show is going to be a team effort. We’ve already heard that Firestorm, Atom and Captain Cold have been tapped to appear (along with Sara Lance, for some reason), and casting notices have teased a few more characters.
Something is definitely in the works. Could it be a live action Justice League TV show?
Considering how much I love Arrow and The Flash, I can’t wait to see what else this DC brain trust can produce! I’m excited for Supergirl and Vixen, and the idea of putting together a ramshackle Justice League TV show sounds pretty amazing. That Flash/Arrow team-up last year was great television. If DC and The CW can turn that energy into a whole TV show, they’ll have another hit on their hands.
They’ll also have a hit if they follow my advice after the jump!
My 6 Favorite Stand-Up Comedians Working Today
What do you do when you have to take a long drive on your own? Me personally, I listen to stand-up comedians to pass the time. They’re always good for a laugh, and there are a lot of great CDs out there to choose from. You’ve got the classics, like George Carlin, and new guys, like Aziz Ansari. There’s also the added benefit of their voices sounding like there’s someone else in the car. Oh, the crushing loneliness…
Nah, it’s not really like that, I promise. But ever since I started buying comedy albums, I’ve taken on a new appreciation for today’s stand-up comics. I’ve also discovered some really great talent, and I thought I’d take this week to share. Maybe next week I’ll get back to talking about superheroes…although this group would make a pretty great superhero team. Join me after the jump for my six favorite stand-up comedians, plus a few honorable mentions! Read the rest of this entry
6 MORE Licensed Properties That Need LEGO Love
I may never get over the fact that The LEGO Movie was snubbed at the Oscars this past weekend. I’m thinking of taking it personally. Maybe organize some kind of grassroots petition? Whatever I end up doing (probably nothing), I will always remain a lifelong LEGO fan. And to honor the best movie of 2014 — since the Academy wouldn’t — I’ve decided to do a sequel List of Six to one from a few years ago.
What new franchises need to be made into LEGO?
Walk down the LEGO aisle at the toy store these days and you’ll see Avengers, Ninja Turtles, Jurassic World, Harry Potter and more. We didn’t have branded LEGOs when I was a kid, but I would have given anything to have a real, fully licensed Ninja Turtles van and Turtle mini-figs. I have a LEGO Batmobile on my bookshelf right now, and I bought that well into my 20s. And someday the LEGO Ecto-1 will join it.
But if I could choose any LEGO franchise in the world, what would I want? After these first six options, of course.
And please note, most LEGO pictures on this list are fan creations I found online. Those that are built by fans are linked to the fan’s webpages. So let’s give it up to the fans!
The 6 Characters on My Teen Titans
Let’s talk about the Teen Titans. I do it a lot on my blog, I know, but they’re worth talking about. The Teen Titans are a very popular comic, with a history dating back to before I was even born. And they’ve been on the air in one cartoon form or another for more than a decade. Heck, they even have their own TV show coming up! So why is their comic book so terrible? Why can’t DC Comics make it work? Maybe because they just don’t know what to do with the Teen Titans. But I know someone who does!
In our discussion last week of the highs and lows of DC Comics’ New 52, Henchman Gordon Bishop asked what my ideal roster would be for the Teen Titans. And seeing as how I am totally open to you henchies suggesting Lists of Six, I decided to take him up on his suggestion. It helps that this is one of my favorite games. I’ve already done dream rosters for the Avengers and Justice League, among others.
I’ve also done a previous List on things I would fix about DC’s current Teen Titans comic. So along with those fixes, join me after the jump to find out which New 52 teen superheroes I would write if DC handed me the reigns of the Teen Titans!
And please share your own roster ideas below in the comments!
