6 Other Blue Beetles in Pop Culture
The Blue Beetle movie comes out this week and I’m moderately excited. The trailers look fun, and I have faith in the character and the actors. But DC has been bombing at the box office for years now, and the movie also looks very, very predictable. Will people turn out to watch it anyway? We’ll see!
For my part, I wanted to do a Blue Beetle-themed List of Six. But I’ve already done lists about bug-themed superheroes and about specifically armored bug-themed superheroes. So what else was there to do? How about a list of other blue beetles out there in the world? It started as a silly idea, but I did some Googling and I have found six other blue beetles in the world of pop culture (mostly). Weird, huh? Don’t believe me?
Join me after the jump to see my list of other blue beetles that exist beyond the actual, comic book Blue Beetle!

I’m a big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was born in 1983 and the classic Ninja Turtles cartoon came out in 1987, so I was the perfect age to get hooked for life to those super fun adventures and all those collectible toys. I’ve caught most or some of every Turtles adaptation since, though even I haven’t been able to keep up completely. Still, I am fully on board with TMNT: Mutant Mayhem and everything it has to offer.
Movie Rating: 9/10 – Great
I have been very excited for this film since it was first announced. Seth Rogen is using his power in Hollywood for awesome adaptations, from Preacher to Invincible to now a really great take on the Turtles. And then we got some trailers, met the characters and now we’ve seen the flick. It was marvelous, and a great new take on this beloved franchise. Mutant Mayhem is one of the best movies of the year, hands down, and I hope it drives Turtles content for years to come.
Maybe it’ll get me to finally start reading all those IDW hardcover Turtles comics I keep buying…

Longtime readers of my blog will know that I’m a big Marvel Cinematic Universe apologist. I’m not ashamed of it. I enjoyed both Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. I have enjoyed all of Phase 4 and everything we’ve seen so far in Phase 5. I am not someone who is ringing the bell that Marvel is dead. But even I can’t work up too much energy for Secret Invasion now that it’s over.
TV Show Rating: 5/10 – Alright
I loved the trailers. I had high hopes for the series. But ultimately, I don’t think Secret Invasion was anything special or all that memorable. I don’t think it was a bad show. It’s going to take a lot for me to say any Marvel Studios project is actively bad. I watched every episode. I thought they were all largely fine. It started stronger than it ended. But, overall, it was a big nothing of a show. Just fine. Just alright. Now let us never mention it again.

I’m a little bit late for Pride Month, but this list was fun to put together nonetheless! Rainbows are great. They’re bright, they’re colorful, and everybody still loves them after no doubt seeing them their whole lives. As we all know, rainbows are caused by light refracting through water droplets in the air, usually after it rains. And that image is sometimes used for comic book characters.
Rainbows work as both a costume idea, a way to describe someone’s powers or just a fun accessory for the superhero. They fill a page with color and energy, and bring smiles wherever they go. I knew of some rainbow-based comic book characters already, but the internet is ever giving, and I found even more to fill out this list. And it’s a fun list!
Join me after the jump for six of the more colorful, light refracting off water droplet characters in all of comics!

Who doesn’t love tradition? It’s the week of San Diego Comic-Con, and since I’m not going (again) this year, I’ve decided to indulge in one of my favorite blog traditions: dream casting a superhero team! This year, we’re heading far into the future for my take on the Legion of Super-Heroes.
I’ve never been a big fan of the Legion of Super-Heroes, but I recently came up with a fun idea for what I’d do if I were ever hired to write a new Legion book. Hopefully someday that will still happen. And if it does, then you blog readers will have this insight into some of the major twists and mysteries that will drive my comic. I’ve done plenty of lists like this before on Comic-Con week, from the Justice League and the Avengers, to the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts and the X-Men. You can see a full list here.
This year, it’s my roster and plot for the Legion of Super-Heroes! Join me after the jump to get the whole scoop. And if you have a dream roster of your own, feel free to share it in the comments below.
