6 Things I Want to See in Future Amazing Spider-Man Movies
Bring on the Amazing Spider-Man mega-franchise! Despite most of criticdom apparently hating The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and box office predictions less than ideal, this comic book geek was a big fan, and an even bigger fan of everything director Mark Webb and Sony Pictures seem to be doing with the Spidey franchise. I love the idea of Sinister Six and Venom movies. I love Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. And I’m especially enjoying the various villains and Easter Eggs popping up left and right.
Though the mystery about Peter’s dad should be dropped like a hot potato.
Why do we need anything more than ‘radioactive spider bite’?
After reading several reviews, I thought I wouldn’t like The Amazing Spider-Man 2. But just like my doubt with the first one, the actual movie blew me away. Garfield is just so great as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man that I can’t help but love the films. So if he sticks around for a few more, I can’t wait for Amazing Spider-Mans 3, 4 and 5! There are more than enough villains from the comics to use, and more than enough classic character elements to bring into the films to keep them rolling along. And clearly Webb and Sony aren’t afraid to write their own stories and twists to the character.

My 6 Favorite Episodes of The Simpsons
I can still remember watching the first episode of The Simpsons in 1989, the Mills family huddled around our living room for another night of quality prime time television. I don’t remember what I thought about the episode or the show. I don’t remember what prompted us to even watch it. But we were hooked from that very first episode, and I have been a lifelong fan of The Simpsons ever since.
Even if I haven’t seen a new episode in years…

I will let historians and poets write a bigger, better recap of The Simpsons‘ cultural impact. I’m just a guy who loved a cartoon, alongside the rest of the entire world. What I can do – aside from playing Simpsons Tapped Out on my phone – is buy the DVDs and watch oodles upon oodles of old episodes. And one thing I’ve learned is that all of the episodes I devoured in syndication had amazing extra scenes and jokes cut out of them that are fully restored on the DVDs! It’s like finding new gems in the old classic episodes!

6 Gritty Reboots I Want to See
I’m a big fan of gritty reboots, and apparently so is Hollywood. They’re all the rage these days. And they’re the best way to keep a big time franchise alive. Want to find a way to make a whole new Spider-Man trilogy only a few years after the first one? Gritty reboot! Want to make Daniel Craig’s James Bond more appealing to modern movie audiences? Gritty reboot! Want to turn the silly, cartoony, 1980s Transformers into a modern, billion-dollar blockbuster franchise? Gritty reboot!
Gritty reboots are a Hollywood cure-all, and I think they can make for some really good stories.
Old Man Flanagan bought a lot of rubber zombie masks
The key to making a gritty reboot is to add realism to an otherwise preposterous story. Often these movies are more grim than their previous counterparts, but I don’t think ‘grim’ is a necessity. It’s all about realism. It’s the difference between the Avengers and the Ultimates. Between the campy, colorful madness of Batman and Robin and the dark, urban realism of Batman Begins.
This year, gritty reboots of Godzilla and the Ninja Turtles will be hitting the big screen. But there are still some properties out there that I think are ripe for a big, gritty, realistic return!

6 Ways to Fix Teen Titans
Teen Titans the comic book is rubbish. The team itself is pretty awesome, starring DC Comics’ teen superheroes banding together to be radical and fight bad guys. They’ve been a fan favorite super group since their inception decades ago. The Teen Titans cartoon shows on Cartoon Network are some of the most popular superhero cartoons of all time. Fans and kids love the Teen Titans.
But for reasons that still boggle my mind, DC Comics produced a very crappy Teen Titans comic.
We should have known from Day One
When DC rebooted all of their properties in 2011, they had the chance to remake Teen Titans from scratch. They could have done whatever they wanted with the series. But what they did was give it to writer Scott Lobdell, a man whose work hadn’t been popular since the 90s, and let him turn the team into an ugly, directionless mess, stuffed with weak characterization, agonizingly stiff dialogue and more bad vibes than the Legion of Doom.
It’s no surprise that Lobdell’s Teen Titans has been cancelled, with DC starting over with a new #1 issue in July. Can new writer Will Pfeifer and artist Kenneth Rocafort save this series from the gutter? Or is DC still blind when it comes to producing a quality Teen Titans comic?
According to Janelle Asselin at Comic Book Resources, DC doesn’t seem to have any idea what they’re doing – and I kind of agree with her. But I’m more than willing to put my money where my mouth is; how would I do Teen Titans differently?

The 6 Best Little Sisters in Pop Culture
My little sister’s birthday was last week, and I’m still having a hard time believing that she’s in her mid-20s. It helps that we live several states apart and only see each other on the major holidays. But still, come on, world! Cut me some slack! There’s no way she’s that old now. Regardless of age, I still love her, and the best way I know how to show love these days is with a List of Six dedicated to her.
This also qualifies as her birthday present.

I did a similar list a few years ago for my brother around his birthday. But in researching this list, I discovered that brothers are a much bigger deal in pop culture than sisters. His list was all about awesome brother teams, like Mario and Luigi, but that sort of thing apparently doesn’t exist very often in pop culture when it comes to sister siblings. What’s up with that? Besides the obvious gender inequality inherent in all of fiction.
Still, I ain’t buying her a real present. So here’s a list of the 6 coolest little sisters in pop culture!
