Check Out These Awesome Bat-Family Costumes!

We live in a golden age of live action superhero costumes! Gone are the days of moody black leather. Now superheroes on both the big and small screens get to dress in comics-accurate attire! And it looks great!

Yesterday saw the first official images of the new Batwoman and Red Hood costumes from the second season of the Batwoman TV show and the third season of the Titans TV show respectively.

Here is Javicia Leslie in costume as Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman.

The Ryan Wilder character recently made her first appearance in the comics. Maybe she’ll become the new Batwoman in comics as well? Time will tell! I think she looks great!

Next up is actor Curran Walters as the Red Hood!

Walters played Jason Todd as Robin in the first two seasons of Titans. I haven’t seen the second season yet, so I don’t know what happened to him. But apparently it was enough for him to go full Red Hood for season 3! I need to start watching that show again. And I never did watch Batwoman to begin with.

To think I live in a day and age where there are so many superhero TV shows that I actively don’t watch some of them! I should be so lucky!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/24/20

It’s one of those weeks folks, where everything seems to be going wrong. Life stinks and there’s no cure. Ugh. But at least I read some quality comics, like Iron Man, Batman, Spider-Woman and yet a couple more X of Swords comics.

Comic Book of the Week goes to the final issue of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for an exciting introduction to the new Green Ranger…even if they’re going to keep his identity a secret for now.

He has arrived!

Meanwhile, I just finished up the final season of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts last night and it was fun. Quality show overall. Not too heavy, mostly funny and an all around good time. I highly recommend Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts on Netflix.

Comic Reviews: Batman #101, Iron Man #2, Juggernaut #2, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #55, Spider-Woman #5, Excalibur #13 and X-Men #13.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reivews – 10/17/20

Comics! They’re still coming out! The world keeps spinning! And my fingers are still working. So let’s read some comics and write some reviews! Like some of my DC favorites and then a whole bunch of new X of Swords issues.

Comic Book of the Week goes to New Mutants #13, of all things. Despite my general exhaustion with X of Swords, I liked the character focus of this issue.

Cypher’s time to shine!

Meanwhile, I finished off the second season of The Boys and I loved it! Great show, fun adaptation; I’m definitely enjoying The Boys and don’t mind the changes from comic to show. It’s a fun adventure.

Comic Reviews: The Green Lantern: Season Two #8, Strange Adventures #6, Hellions #5, New Mutants #13 and Cable #5.

DC Comics is Gonna Do a Cool Flash Forward Event Next Year!

Once upon a time, there existed a plan at DC Comics to make a big shift in their comic book status quo. It was going to be called 5G and it was going to jump the universe forward about five years, so that the younger heroes would step up and be the new lead heroes, while the main guys would step back. Or maybe none of this was going to happen and Bleeding Cool was just pulling rumors out of its butt. Hard to say.

Well DC has announced that they’re going to do a small future event in January and February in which all DC comics will jump forward about 5 years to show off some ne looks, new status quos, new heroes and new adventures. It’s gonna be called Future State.

Look at all the everybody!

And I think it looks cool! I’m all in favor of fun little stunts like this, like the Age of Apocalypse for the X-Men back in the 90s. Marvel got so much mileage out of that story.

So yeah, all our families heroes are going to get new status quos and new adventures. Superman is going to be exiled from Earth, so he’s gonna fight space bad guys. Bruce Wayne is…believed dead? I think? And there are a couple of new Batmen. Gotham City is going to be under a police state.

Tim Drake is going to be Robin in his own little adventure Robin Eternal.

No cape? Interesting choice!

There are a lot of little comics here and there. Justice League, Teen Titans, Harley Quinn, Suicide Squad; there appears to be something for everyone! Batgirls, Grifters.

Here are a ton more details at this link. Tons of comics, tons of covers, tons of story details. Click away and enjoy the madness that is to come!

I’m just pleased that Tim Drake is Robin in the future still!

The event is only going to last for January and February and then go back to regular comics for March. Sounds fine to me!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/10/20

Welcome, everyone, to my second work vacation of the year! Since I didn’t take any time off while working from home during quarantine, I’ve got all my vacation time saved up for the final few months of the year. Not that I plan on doing anything interesting with my time. Reading a bunch of X of Swords comics, apparently.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman #100 for a big, exciting Batman adventure. Gotta love some of those.

If only DC would do this to the Joker for real

Meanwhile, holy cow, have you been watching Star Trek: Lower Decks? I know it’s only available on CBS All Access, and only in the U.S., but jeez louise is it good! The season finale is insane! Hopefully they make it available on another service more accessible to the public. Harley Quinn didn’t really take off until it went to HBO Max!

Comic Book Reviews: Batman #100, Far Sector #8, Thor #8, Wolverine #6, X-Force #13 and Marauders #13.
