Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/10/22
I was pretty busy this week with day job stuff, but I managed to get some comics read and get this review list together. Is it my best ever? No. Whatever is? We’ve got new Batman, new Fantastic Four and even new Jessica Jones.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #7 for an all-around really good issue of character building. Though to be honest, this week was a real toss up.
Meanwhile, I had a pretty sad realization about comics. This week saw the release of, like, half a dozen different ongoing X-Men comics…but I’m not reading any of them. Judgement Day tuned me out of the titles I was reading, and I don’t know if I have the time, energy or inclination to get back on board. I still enjoy the idea of the Krakoa Era, just don’t really care about most of the individual comics. Oh well.
Comic Reviews: Batman #130, Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #7, Fantastic Four #2 and The Variants #5.
Read the rest of this entryI Think Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is More Animated Cut Scene Than Game
Apparently, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is still coming out. It’s been a few years since the game was announced, and I’m pretty sure we’ve mostly scene animated cut scene trailers than actual gameplay trailers. It’s being made by Rocksteady, so it’s probably going to be good…but honestly, I forgot this game exists. Fortunately, there was a big video game event last night, and we got a new trailer!
Of an animated cut scene.
At least the animation looks good! And the writing seems fun. But I’d really love to know what this game is actually going to be. And I need to hurry up and buy that Playstation 5…
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is scheduled to come out on May 26!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews 12/3/22
Christmas Time is here! Magic is in the air. It’s cold out. Life moves on. And we got some really good comics this week. Granted, it was a fifth week, so that usually leads to some smaller offerings. But I was pleased with stuff like Strange Academy and X-Terminators.
Comic Book of the Week goes to Justice Society of America #1 for a strong, if potentially confusing, first issue. Everybody had better have done their homework ahead of this one.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying Pokemon Violet, though I can never seem to find time to play it. That’s on me. But then there’s no harm in taking it slowly. I loved the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. It was so heartwarming! And I got to see Glass Onion in theaters, which was marvelous. So things are going rather well for me in pop culture land.
Comic Reviews: Justice Society of America #1, Strange Academy: Finals #2 and X-Terminators #3.
Read the rest of this entryAwww man, I forgot Monday. Oh well, here’s a Doom Patrol trailer
I dunno. I think perhaps I’ve been a little distracted lately? Or just lazy? Who can tell anymore. I simply forgot to post something on Monday. I try to go for Mondays, because people could use something to kill 5 minutes of their time. And this trailer for Doom Patrol season 4 should suffice in that regard!
Doom Patrol is a fun show, and it seems they’re really leaning into the weirdness as they get older. I’m all for it. Get weird, get crazy, get creative, be Doom Patrol. Simple as that!
The new season of Doom Patrol comes to HBO Max on Dec. 8.

Happy American Thanksgiving, everyone! I’m thankful that I can still enjoy new comics that come out, and still have the energy to keep this review column going. I’m thankful people are still reading. I’m thankful for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Tim Drake: Robin, among other things.
Comic Book of the Week goes to X-Men #17 for a really nice story about Caliban making friends.
Meanwhile, I’m very much enjoying Pokemon Violet. The open world aspect is more than making up for its graphical problems. So that’s nice. I had a really enjoyable Thanksgiving with the family, and caught up on various pop culture shows, games and movies with my brother. Always a hoot. And then last night, I very much enjoyed the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special! So awesome! Oh! And tune in on Wednesday for my review of the first season of Andor. Good stuff there.
Comic Reviews: Dark Spaces: Wildfire #5, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #102, Tim Drake: Robin #3 and X-Men #17.
