Arrow is Going to Prove That Having a Live Action TV Show Full of Superheroes is Going to Be Amazing!
I’m loving Arrow season 2, and I am fairly certain the rest of you are too. But apparently, they are going to turn everything up to 11. EVERYTHING!
Holy Moley! I think I loved that trailer more than any movie trailer I’ve seen in a year. It had action, it had characters, it had twists and more awesomeness than I could have possibly expected. Glued to my seat with this season, everybody. Glued to my seat! Also, just personally, they need to put Roy in a mask and suit already. That hoodie’s just not doing it for me…or, well, not doing enough.
Batman: Arkham Knight is On the Way!
The next game in the Batman: Arkham series was announced today, and it sounds like a hum-dinger! There aren’t too many details just yet about Batman: Arkham Knight, but it’s once again going to be made by Rocksteady Games, and it’s going to feature a drivable Batmobile. That sounds pretty neat.
Check out this badass trailer too!
The released information reveals that Arkham Knight will be the finale to the franchise – though I can’t imagine DC and Warner Bros. will want to give up on such a popular, money-earning title. Rocksteady has said it’s their last game, but the people who made Arkham Origins may make some more games. That’s for the future to decide.
Here’s the game description:
In the explosive finale to the Arkham series, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. The Scarecrow returns to unite an impressive roster of super villains, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn, to destroy The Dark Knight forever.
Batman: Arkham Knight introduces Rocksteady’s uniquely designed version of the Batmobile, which is drivable for the first time in the franchise. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.
Be The Batman.
Right this moment, the story doesn’t sound all that impressive. All of this villains have appeared before, and we can probably all assume that the Joker will pop up somewhere. Remember when we all thought Black Mask was going to be the big bad guy in Arkham Origins? Yeah, I assume a similar twist is going to happen here, and the story will once again be Batman vs. the Joker.
But we’ll see.
Hopefully Rocksteady has more in mind for Arkham Knight than a drivable Batmobile. They claim we’ll get to fight crime in the ‘entirety of Gotham City’, requiring the Batmobile to get around. That sounds good to me. Considering how big Arkham Origins was, how much bigger can they go?
I don’t have a release date yet, other than sometime in 2014, and the game has been confirmed as Next Gen only, so I might have to miss this one – unless Arkham Knight is so good that it is the game that finally pushes me into buying next gen.
And, of course, no word yet on Robin. But he survived Arkham City and Harley Quinn’s Revenge, so surely he’s going to show up, right? Right!?
Also, it would be nice to see some of my other suggestions for future Arkham games added into the mix.
Sound off in the comments to let me know what you folks think!
It’s Never Not a Good Time to Talk About Batman
Rumor has it that we’ll be talking a lot about Batman tomorrow, but until then, the gang at How It Should Have Ended went back to do a video for Batman Begins.
Good times. They already did the other two Dark Knight movies, so who knows why they bothered to go back and do Batman Begins. But again, it’s never not a good time to talk about Batman.
Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/1/14
This week, Aquaman attends his high school reunion. And no, that’s not the set up for a joke. It sounds like one though, when I write it out like that, doesn’t it? But seriously, it’s a legitimate story, and it’s utterly fantastic! I seriously wish more DC comics these days were like Aquaman. Do you hear that, DC superheroes? Be more like Aquaman!
As for Marvel heroes, you need to be more like Hawkeye. Even more seriously, how did we not see Hawkeye coming? I am going to gush about this comic every week that it comes out, because I think Hawkeye is not only the best comic book on the stands today, but it’s also the wave of the future, baby! And it’s just so weird, considering Hawkeye the comic probably got greenlit because of Hawkeye in The Avengers movie, and the two characters couldn’t be more dissimilar!
Hawkeye #15, the epic team-up of the Barton Brothers, easily wins Comic Book of the Week.
And that is why Barney Barton is not a superhero.
Comic Reviews: Aquaman #28, Fantastic Four #1, Hawkeye #15, Superior Spider-Man #28, and Wolverine and the X-Men #42.
The Flash Looks Pretty Snazzy
The CW has released the first official look at the Flash costume for his new TV series. I think it looks pretty darn great!
I’m just glad his mask isn’t a smear of red eye shadow.
I really like this look, and I can’t imagine the rest of the costume is going to change things up. I think we’ll have a full, comics accurate Flash costume when all is said and done. And I like what they did with the lightning bolts on the ears. Just like Captain America in the movies, superheroes do not need stupid-looking wings on the sides of their heads. This costume looks classy and classic.
DC and Warner Bros. are gearing up to shoot the pilot, and let’s hope it goes to a full series, because Arrow is already pretty damn great.
