Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/25/23

It’s another week of jam-packed comic books! A lot of good ones! A lot of new announcements! It’s always fun having something to read. I need to get back into reading my big stack of tpbs. Sometimes I think I just like buying shiny things on Amazon. Anyway, this week features such fun comics as Amazing Spider-Man, Nightwing and Saga!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman #1 for a perfect relaunch first issue. This is one god damned gorgeous comic book, people.

Jamal Campbell should draw everything

Meanwhile, I enjoyed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, though I can see why critics didn’t enjoy it. Hopefully it doesn’t go down as Marvel’s first flop. All that really matters is that I had fun. And I hope to have fun at Cocaine Bear this weekend. Should be a blast!

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #20, Nightwing #101, Saga #62, Strange Academy: Finals #4, and Superman #1.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/18/23

Everything’s coming up Milhouse! What an excellent week for comics, my friends! Oddly, none of the DC titles I’m currently reading came out this week. But a metric ton of Marvel comics I’m into did! So we’ve got new Fantastic Four, X-Men, Invincible Iron Man and more!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #105 because this series continues to be simply my favorite. Especially thanks to cute and funny moments like this.

Prepare for robot fights

Meanwhile, if you’re reading this the day it’s posted, I’ll be going to see Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania today! I’m excited, because I like the Ant-Man movies. It’s getting some mixed reviews, but all those reviews point to a movie that I’m still likely to enjoy. I wasn’t able to see it opening night because I was still at work. Ain’t that a kicker? But it should be fun, and I’ll post my review/thoughts on Wednesday.

Comic Reviews: Fantastic Four #4, Invincible Iron Man #3, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #105, Monica Rambeau: Photon #3, Wasp #3 and X-Men #19.

6 Comic Book Characters with Time-Travel Powers

What is a comic book blogger supposed to do when there have already been several Ant-Man films and I’ve already used up all the best List of Six ideas for those? I’ve done bug superheroes. I’ve done shrinking superheroes. I’ve done growing superheroes. I’ve done armored bug superheroes. I’ve got nothing left! I’m all tapped out on exploiting Ant-Man and the Wasp for list ideas!

So how about we do Kang the Conqueror?

He looks comfy

The next big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be Kang the Conqueror, and he’s making his big screen debut this week in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. I’m excited! I can’t wait to see this film and I hope it lives up to all my excitement. Ant-Man is my favorite Avenger and I’m excited to see how Kang kicks butt and makes an impact. And to celebrate his awesomeness, let’s take a look at other time traveling superheroes. Kang the Conqueror is a master of time, bending it to his will. And he’s not the only one capable of such feats in the funny pages.

I’m not talking about characters who have time traveled, like Bishop or Booster Gold. I’m talking about comic book heroes and villains who can manipulate time itself! Join me after the jump to see who I found.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/11/23

The time has come for more comic book reviews. Do you look forward to these reviews every week? I know you do! Should I have them up on Thursdays instead? Get off my back! We’ve got new Batman and the return of Static!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Amazing Spider-Man #19 for a fun tale about Spidey and the Black Cat. I’ve always liked them as a couple.

A side of Peter Parker you’ve never seen before!

Meanwhile, I am having a ton of fun with Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Once I got into the groove of the game, it’s become a real blast! I fully expect to max out all the characters just because I can and the end will be more fun that way. I’m also super eager to see Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania next week!

Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #19, Batman #132 and Static: Shadows of Dakota #1.

One of My All-Time Favorite Comic Book Characters is Back From the Dead – Sort of!

This has been a pretty fun year for me so far in terms of comic book characters. It wasn’t that long ago that a whole bunch of my favorite characters were killed off in short order. Cut to now, and most of them are back, and many of them are thriving. It was only a week or two ago that another one of my all-time favorite characters, the Mimic, returned to the pages of the X-Men. And now we can add one more making his big comeback!

I don’t want to say who above the fold, for fear of spoilers, but here’s a tease from the comic itself.

Get your hopes up

The return happens in this week’s Red Goblin #1. I’ve actually been anticipating this return because Goblin characters have been getting a real push lately. Norman Osborn is starring in a Gold Goblin mini-series. And now his grandson, Normie, is the new Red Goblin.

Surely that would mean a return of my favorite Goblin…and I was right!

Join me after the jump for the big reveal!
