6 Characters Who Are Walls

Walls. We all have them. They serve a very important function in our lives. Sometimes they’re good, sometimes they’re bad. They’re walls. They’re totally a thing. And on this auspicious day, I’ve decided to do an internet superhero listicle about characters whose power is to be a wall, make a wall or just be wall-like.

Another brick in the…

You might be asking yourself, where did this even come from? The idea was inspired by two characters on this list who I randomly happened to notice in my life in close proximity. They’re not A-list characters. They’re not about to headline the next Marvel Disney+ show. But they exist, they are documented, and it sent me on a journey to find others like them in the annals of comic book history. Maybe next time I’ll do a list of characters who are floors or characters who are chairs.

Join me after the jump for, quite possibly, the silliest comic book character list I’ve ever done. Six characters who are walls.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/25/23

Who loves comics? I love comics! And some of my favorites came out this week. It’s always an enjoyable time when I get to read Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Nightwing in the same week.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Superman #2 for an excellent entry, making this series two-for-two so far for me. Joshua Williamson and his creative team are knocking this one out of the park in terms of story, character and especially some gorgeous artwork.

No sir, I am perfectly reasonable

Meanwhile, I finally beat Midnight Suns and I can definitely say it was a good game. A ton of work went into that thing to really flesh out all its Marvel superheroes, and I would definitely look forward to a sequel. I also saw John Wick: Chapter 4 and was disappointed. These endless action scenes are diminishing returns for me in this series. I’m also watching the second season of Carnival Row. So at least somebody is, right?

Comic Reviews: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #106, Nightwing #102, Superman #2 and The Wasp #3.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/18/23

Some weeks I get so many comics that I have to drop a couple because I don’t give myself enough time or energy to read them. And some weeks I have very few comics to review, like this week. X-Cellent and Justice Society of America for the go!

Comic Book of the Week goes to The X-Cellent #1 because it’s just a bit freakier than Justice Society, and that has to count for something.

The mutant menace

Meanwhile, I enjoyed Shazam! Fury of the Gods and will have my full review/thoughts up in the usual place on Wednesday. I enjoyed the movie, but there are a lot of problems with the movie. I’m going to make a push to beat Marvel’s Midnight Suns this weekend, unless Gotham Knights is on sale, then I might buy and play that instead. I’ve gone too long without playing Robin: The Video Game. Also, I bought that new Multiple Man action figure, in his classic, original costume. So that’s a nice feather in my cap.

Comic Reviews: Justice Society of America #3 and The X-Cellent #1.

Top 6 Shockingest Lightning-Based Superheroes (Other than Shazam!)

Shazam!: Fury of the Gods comes out this week and I already did a list of the weirdest members of the Shazamily last time we had one of these movies. So I can’t go back to that well. How do I honor this new superhero movie? I really enjoyed the first one, and I have high hopes to enjoy this one as well. How about we do a list about lightning-based characters?

Zzzzap!

Lightning and electricity powers are a staple in comics. Just like ice, fire and other elements. It zaps, it’s easy to manage and it looks really cool sometimes. Not everybody is so unique that they use magic lightning to transform into a whole new form. Most people just have straight up lightning zap out of their fingers. And now that I think about it, I don’t think any of them got their powers from being struck by lightning. That’s pretty weird.

Anyway, let’s get on with it and then we can all go see Shazam! Fury of the Gods this weekend! Join me after the jump for the six best lightning characters in comics. And I don’t mean lightning in terms of weather control. Storm and Thor don’t count. I mean lightning specifically.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 3/11/23

Comic books, comic books, radioactive comic books. Were they read? Yes they were. I gave them all the looks. Like Batman, Fantastic Four and even new issue of X-Men!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Scarlet Witch #3 for another really enjoyable issue in this solo series. This is the sort of clean, uncluttered storytelling I want to see in a new solo series.

Shared without context

Meanwhile, we’re finally learning what happened between Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson in the new Amazing Spider-Man this week, but the issue was all set-up, so I didn’t feel like doing a full review. I also dropped the ball with Tom Taylor’s new Jon Kent series. That one is on me. But if you come back tomorrow, I’m gonna run down my thoughts on all the Best Picture nominees at the Oscars! I watched all 10! Like it’s some kind of accomplishment!

Comic Reviews: Batman #133, Fantastic Four #5, Scarlet Witch #3 and X-Men #20.
