Top 6 Tyrannosaurus Rex Characters in Pop Culture

The Tyrannosaurus Rex is damn cool. Dinosaurs are already cool, and there is no cooler dinosaur than the T-Rex, the Tyrant Lizard King! Which is why the T-Rex is all over pop culture, from comics to cartoons to the big screen. I even modeled the villain of my new Gamer Girl & Vixen comic after a Tyrannosaur!

Order my comic on Kickstarter!

That’s right, I was able to tie this week’s List of Six back into my ongoing Kickstarter campaign! Such is the way of things. But Tyrannosaurus Regina is not yet a household name, so I had to put this list together out of known T-Rex characters in pop culture. The meanest, toughest, coolest and nicest Tyrannosaurs in pop culture even!

Join me after the jump for some pretty great Tyrannosaur characters!

Gamer Girl & Vixen Artist Spotlight: Luke Beatrice

As you are hopefully no doubt aware, my Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter campaign is going strong! We’ve already hit our goal and will be making a new comic this year. We’re now working on our first stretch goal, in which we’ll include all of the GG&V mini-comics into the graphic novel, I’ve been posting every Friday for the past few weeks. And to help facilitate that, I’ve done some little interviews with the guest artists! That I’m going to share here!

First up is artist Luke Beatrice. Find more of his art at that link.

Q. What led you to becoming an artist?

A. I just wanted all the crazy things I saw in my head to be real! I started drawing when I was 9 or so and my first fanart was for Batman: The Animated Series.

Q. What do you see as your strengths as an artist?

A. I’ve been told that color and expressions (both facial and body language) are my strengths.

Q. What are your future goals as an artist?

A. I’m an animator by trade, so I’d like to do more personal animated shorts about LGBTQ+ peeps!

Luke did the artwork and lettering for two of the short comics: Quizzy Bee and Walk of Pride, which you can read below!

And there will be plenty of more work from Luke coming in the future! Can’t reveal it all yet, but it’s gonna be pretty awesome in the year ahead!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 2/24/24

What a week, what a glorious week! If you haven’t heard the news, my Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter hit its funding goal this week, so I’m on cloud nine! And then the world went ahead and gave me so many of my favorite current comics, like Nightwing, Superman and Transformers!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #6 because every issue of this series is just mind-blowingly cool!

Heck yeah

Meanwhile, I’ve been making my way through various TV shows lately, like Lessons in Chemistry and, finally, Twisted Metal. I’m still playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder and taking my sweet time at on that. No other new games have really caught my attention. So just sort of chilling my way through some OK games and shows these days.

Comic Reviews: Cobra Commander #2, Nightwing #111, Superman #11, Transformers #5, Ultimate Spider-Man #2 and Wonder Woman #6.

Gamer Girl & Vixen in Nothing At All

Good news, everybody! My Gamer Girl & Vixen Kickstarter hit its funding goal this morning! We’re fully funded and are definitely going to make the comic this year! I’m quite thrilled. The campaign is still ongoing and will be for another two weeks, so you can all go pre-order your copy still if you haven’t already!

Now that we’ve hit our goal, we’ll be working towards hitting our first stretch goal, which will involve putting all of the free webcomics into the actual physical comic. I’ve been posting them every Friday for the past few weeks, and here’s the last one, by artist Jo Christian.

Read the comic at Global Comix.

I had a lot of fun writing this one. I had a lot of fun writing all of these mini-comics with my partner, Kristi McDowell. And we’re always having fun making these comics! So you best believe there will be more Gamer Girl & Vixen in the future!

Cartoon Trailer Monday!

Last week was a great week for cartoon trailers. And if I was more on my game, I should have posted about these last week. That’s on me. I’m sure everybody’s already seen these trailers, but you haven’t heard my thoughts on them yet!

First up is the big one, X-Men ’97. Everybody’s been talking about this all weekend, and of course I’m excited for this show. I lived off of the original X-Men animated series, so I am here for this!

Looks wonky but manageable. Not sure bringing back the same voice cast was the best idea. Not sure whatever they’re doing with the animation was the best idea. But their heart seems to be in the right place. Seems like they’ve got some solid stories lined up, and that Daily Bugle flapping in the breeze at the start of the trailer showed Maggott and Stacy X, and if those two characters appear for real in this show, then I’m going to automatically consider it a success.

Also, I am 110% behind everything they’re doing with Morph. Making them nonbinary is a great idea. And I love their new blank face/AoA Morph look. The Morph serialized story from the original show was always really impressive to me, and I’m excited to see them as a solid member of the team now.

X-Men ’97 comes to Disney+ on March 20.

Next up is the trailer for the second half of season two of Invincible. Loved everything so far, love the comic series, so bring it on!

Looks great! I recognize some of the storylines and characters from the comics, and then there’s stuff I’ve forgotten about. I’m confident that the people behind Invincible know exactly what they’re doing and they’re going to pull it off splendidly. So everybody just keep up the good work and get it done!

Invincible returns to Amazon Prime on March 14.

Lastly, our first look at Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I loved Mutant Mayhem as much as the next person, so I’m on board with those show.

Looks fun. Looks a little cheaply animated, but I can live with that. I don’t actually know if I’ll watch this show. I haven’t watched an ongoing Ninja Turtles cartoon in a very long time. They’re mostly for kids for real. And that’s how it should be! Let kids enjoy the Ninja Turtles. But if it’s as good as the movie, I might try this out.

Tales of the TMNT comes to Paramount+ this summer.
