First Trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting rebooted yet again, and I’m here for it. I will always be here for it. I was a very young child in the 1980s and watched all those toy commercial cartoons, and the Ninja Turtles were my favorite! So I will always be on board for another TMNT movie. And this one looks pretty darn cool!

I love the animation style. Into the Spider-Verse has really freed animated movies to reach beyond the Disney aesthetics, and I love the look of this film. I love the youthful nature of the Turtles and their smooth, rapid fire dialogue. They’re all voiced by actual teenagers, and I think that’s neat. This movie looks darn cool!

And the recently announced cast list includes characters like Mondo Gecko, Ray Fillet and my personal favorite, Wingnut! So you best believe I am fully on board a new TMNT reboot that includes a whole menagerie of fun mutants from the lore!

TMNT: Mutant Mayhem comes to theaters on Aug. 4.

Ant-Man Isn’t Doing Well at the Box Office, But He Still Looks Cool Animated

I enjoyed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but it’s getting picked apart at the box office and in critical reviews. Alas. I’m a huge Marvel fanboy, but I can definitely see the cracks in the film, though I still insist it’s an enjoyable and entertaining watch. People are just eager for Marvel Studios to fail. Live long enough to see yourself become the villain, eh?

Anyway, Ant-Man is the latest subject of Tell It Animated, and this video is another banger!

I love this dude’s videos! I hope he’s been very successful. Ant-Man is my favorite Avenger largely because of the cool look of his modern costumes. And Ant-Man’s costumes are some of my favorite in the MCU. So this was a super fun video!

And, as always, the next video he should make is Robin!

Aggretsuko is On It’s Way Back!

Aggretsuko is coming back for it’s fifth and final season on Netfix in a couple of weeks! It’s a fun cartoon, and I have high hopes that it will go out with a strong season.

Is Retsuko running for office? That’s an interesting choice. And we’ll find out if there’s any relationship hope between Retsuko and Haida. Honestly, I was for them in the beginning, but they went too far with the will they/won’t they stuff for my tastes. Haida had a good thing with that one girl! Ah well, I guess we’ll find out.

Aggretsuko returns on Feb. 16.

Sexy Harley Quinn Valentine’s Day Special!

I very much enjoy the Harley Quinn cartoon. It’s funny, raunchy, silly and full of comic book goodness. It’s the best animated Batman-verse in years, if not decades. And while we wait for the fourth season, there’s going to be a one-off Valentine’s Day special next month. And it’s gonna be sexy!

Can’t wait to watch. And now you all know that it’s happening, so you can’t blame me if you miss it. Just keep your eyes peeled to HBO Max on Feb. 9.

6 Other Cartoon Reboot Ideas Like “Velma”

The most talked about new show this week has been Velma on HBOMax, for good, though mostly for ill. A lot of people hate this show, at least on the corners of the internet I spend time on. They vehemently hate it. But I like it just fine. I love cartoons, and was going to give this one a watch regardless, and I liked the first two episodes. They’re fine.

Behold the apparent horror of an Indian Velma

There have been a couple dozen different Scooby Doo reboots over the decades. Velma is the ninth one since I’ve been alive, and I’m just counting cartoon shows. So if some creators want to go in a different direction with this one, I have zero problem with that. Yet people are up in arms at hating this show. Why? Personally, I think the fact that it’s produced by a noted woman of color, and changed the focus to be about a woman of color, are probably big factors in why it’s getting so much vitriol.

I’ve never been one to shy away from the zeitgeist! And I think Velma could be the start of a whole wave of new, female-led reboots of classic shows! So join me after the jump for six classic cartoons that could be rebooted with a new main character!
