I Sincerely Hope the LEGO Batman Movie Doesn’t Make the Obvious Robin Jokes

The first teaser trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie arrived the other day, and it’s fun. Should be a good show.

Michael Cera is playing Robin in the movie, which could also be fine. But man, I really really hope they don’t just go with the obvious Robin jokes in this film. I think we can all picture Cera making the same, tired old gay jokes at Robin’s expense. But it’s 2016, dagnabbit! I hope these people have something better in mind.

A New Comic Book Cartoon Youtube Show Enters Our Lives

Behold the work of Noah Sterling, a comics fan who has taken to animation and Youtube to explain complex and awesome comic book stories in simple form! He’s funny and the work is quality. Here’s his take on Civil War.

Unfortunately, according to his Youtube channel, his videos have been taken down — so watch that one while you can. Sterling explains in a short bit that he works for Marvel, but the videos were his own little project. The popularity of his Civil War video outed his project to Marvel, and they asked him to take down the unlicensed work. Makes sense. But he says he’s going to do some other comics, so we’ll see where things go. Still, fun video.

The Current Ninja Turtles Cartoon Is Everything One Could Want From the Ninja Turtles

Back in the 1980s, the Ninja Turtles were my jam. I watched all the cartoons, from Real Ghostbusters to Transformers to G.I. Joe. But The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were my #1. And I’m under no impression that those old cartoons hold up today. That’s why I open my mind to accept all the new and different versions of the Turtles. I love the IDW comics, I enjoy the Michael Bay movies, and I’m a huge fan of the cartoon on Nickelodeon. Not only is it a fun series, but there’s rich in Turtles lore and tributes!

And now they’re going full tilt, with an insane 2D/3D crossover between the Turtles of now and the Turtles of old! Here’s a clip!

If only the Michael Bay Turtle movies were this clever. And that’s the original voice actors from the 80s, too!

Movie Criticism is Better Than Politics

It’s Super Tuesday, and that means a whole heck of a lot in the world of American politics. I would rather no deal with that insanity, so instead, let’s poke fun at Monsters University! I mean, what the heck was up with Monsters University?

Seriously, let’s not worry about politics today. If anything, you should go watch John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight. That’s all the politics any of us will ever need. Even if Cinema Sins is pretty good too. They really delved into this one.

You know what my biggest complaint is about Monsters University? It’s that all of the monsters look the same. Other than Mike, Sully and the main characters, all the background monsters are the same kind of rainbow furry and generic. It’s kind of disheartening.

A Bunch of Simpsons Movie References, Most of Which I Never Got as a Kid

The Simpsons is chockful of movie references. Just straight to the very chock. And here’s a fun medley of a bunch of them!

We have Vimeo user cgmzz to thank for putting this together and posting it online. It’s a fun celebration, which is the best way to enjoy The Simpsons. And seeing as how I was a kid during the Golden Age, I’m pretty sure I didn’t understand even half of these at the time!
