My Pokemon Moon Team!

The time has come, once again, to be hailed as the new Pokemon Champion! I’ve wandered the Alola Islands, I’ve battled the chiefs and kahunas. I’ve conquered the moon. And now the moment is here to beat another Pokemon game!

To mark the occasion — and tease an upcoming List of Six — I’ve decided to share my pokemon squad! This is the team I’m taking to the top of the mountain in Pokemon Moon: Incineroar, Galisopod, Palossand, Mimikyu, Crabominable and Lunala!

It’s a pretty good team, if I do say so myself. Usually when it comes to Pokemon games, I pick my team out ahead of time, based on the monsters that get announced and spoiled. I never shy away from Pokemon monster spoilers. But this adventure had some surprises.

I went with Litten as a starter, because it was the coolest one, even though I didn’t care for Incineroar. But the big fire cat wrestler has grown on me in combat. I picked Mimikyu because it’s obviously amazing and adorable. Galisopod was another Pokemon I chose in advance, because it’s just plain awesome-looking. It starts out as one of those trilobites, which looks like a wimp, only to evolve into that monsters samurai tank bug you see up there. That guy was a no-brainer. And I always go with the box art legendary, so Lunala was a definite teamster. I also like bats.

Palossand was on my list of Pokemon to try, because I love the weird ones. I may be one of the only Garbador fans in existence, and the idea of making a haunted sandcastle pokemon definitely spoke to me. The biggest surprise is Crabominable. I had no intention of going with Crabrawler when I first saw the dude ahead of the game, but at the time I caught him, having a solid fighting pokemon sounded like a good idea, with added water elements. That guy just kind of stuck around with no solid replacements, and his evolution is just plain neat — even though he can only evolve at the very, very, very end of the game, which is a complaint I’ll talk about later.

So yeah, I’m loving Pokemon Moon and I’m even considering a second play through, which I rarely do. This has been a really cool game. I’m planning a List of Six/Review for next week, so stay tuned!

What Pokemon have you henchies ended up using in the game? Let me know in the comments!

So They’re Making a New Mummy Movie

Word has it that Universal Studios is still trying to put together their shared monster universe. The Mummy is the either the next or first part of the universe, depending on whether or not anybody still cares about Dracula Reborn. Do you remember Dracula Reborn? Then that probably answers that question.

Anyway, the new Mummy will star Tom Cruise, so maybe it has some chops.

Can’t say as how I’m too impressed or interested based on that trailer. Looks fine, I suppose, and Tom Cruise usually doesn’t get wrapped up in crappy movies. So hey, maybe it will be good. In general, I’m totally in favor of a big shared monster universe. If they can make awesome versions of Frankenstein and the Wolfman and Dracula and have them all fight or join forces, that sounds neat.

The New Walking Dead Video Game is a Travesty!

We don’t know all the details yet, so things may change, but it looks like Season 3 of The Walking Dead game from Telltale WILL NOT star Clementine! She’s going to be in the game, but possibly as a supporting character.

This is madness.

Clementine is the best! She’s my favorite character across all Walking Dead adaptations, and I was really looking forward to continuing her adventures.

But based on that trailer, it looks like we’re going to play as some new schmuck, which Clementine as a partner/sidekick. How disappointing and lame.

Definitely still gonna play, though.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer is Smashing!

A lot of trailers for movies and video games have dropped in the past few days, and I didn’t post them because I had some other projects planned. So I’ve been saving them up for a Trailers Monday! Should make for a fun day! We’ll kick things off for the first full trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and just like the teaser trailer a couple of months ago, it’s hilarious and amazing.

I wish I was a non-comic book fan at moments like this. I wish I was just someone who really enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy two years ago, and now gets to watch this sequel trailer with no real knowledge or understanding of comics and no real knowledge of understanding or obsession with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I wish I could watch this trailer as just someone who is looking forward to the continuing adventures of Star-Lord and Groot and Drax, and could react to these hilarious moments naturally.

Ah well, even with all that I know, this trailer was still so funny and so great. I cannot wait!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/3/16

I come to you people more the worse for wear. I got some crummy medical news the other day about some inner ear/balance problems that I kind of just need to suck up and deal with. Ugh. It’s just generally crummy. So forgive me for any noticeable typos or bad attitudes.

Fortunately, not many comics came out this week, considering it was a fifth week in November. So we’ve only got a couple comics, from the new debut of Ghost Rider to the next exciting Power Rangers issue! The latter easily wins Comic Book of the Week for more out-of-the-box ideas!

The Red Green Power Ranger!

Ms. Marvel also came out with a new issue this week, but it quickly morphed into a big election PSA. Like, I had to go back and check the cover to make sure this wasn’t some kind of free handout. It gets really in depth about the ins and outs of voting…even though Election Day was several weeks ago. Not quite sure what was going on there, and it was a little too hopeful about the election to actually review.

Comic Reviews: Ghost Rider #1, Great Lakes Avengers #2 and Mighty Mophin Power Rangers #9.
