Those Mortal Kombat Movies Were Honestly Terrible
Procrastination! Woohoo! Let the good times keep rolling!
I’m a big fan of Mortal Kombat lore. We do exist. Smoke is one of my all-time favorite video game characters, and I just really dig his story in the games — I dig a lot of the Mortal Kombat stories. But yeah, the movies are terrible. They are so, so bad. We didn’t necessarily need and Honest Trailer to tell us that, but it’s good that they went this far.

I’m with you as a long time MK fan. I love the stories of the characters in the games, and the reboot games have been fantastic. The movies are bad though. The first is at least watchable, but the second is horrible. Then there is the animated series and Conquest live action series that are so bad it’s painful. The web series was decent enough, but nothing like the games.
I liked the web series, and I actually liked the animated series back when I was a kid (possibly because I didn’t know any better). That was a great show for exploring the lore, and it had an amazing Smoke episode that really served the character right.
I thought the first one was decent, with a few adjustments, like an R rating and some better writing, it could have been pretty good.
I also liked the lore, but after MKX it feels like they just want to burn it all down and start anew, which is a shame since they’re leaving a lot of good characters aside.
Yeah, they keep burning it all down every couple of games or so. I guess it doesn’t matter to most people.
