I Am Very Excited for the Wonder Man Show

Marvel revealed the first full Wonder Man trailer at New York Comic-Con this past weekend and I am very excited. I’ve never particularly cared about the character in the comics, but I really, really love the premise of the show. The first trailer gives us a pretty good look at that premise.

So Wonder Man was an old school sci-fi movie in the MCU and it’s getting a modern movie reboot, and the main character of the show wants to play Wonder Man in the movie. That sounds really interesting and neat! I like a good meta show.

The show was created by Destin Daniel Cretton, the guy behind Shang-Chi and, I think, the next Spider-Man movie, so Marvel has a lot of faith in him. And it stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is good in everything. So I’ve got a lot of faith and hope in this one.

I just wish that trailer had given us some kind of hint as to what’s really going on. Is the actor going to get super-powers? Is the director up to something sinister? Or maybe it really is just surface level Hollywood stuff.

We’ll find out when Wonder Man comes to Disney+ on Jan. 27.

Did You See This Sweet Marvel Disney+ Trailer?

To coincide with the Agatha All Along finale, Marvel put out this sizzle reel of upcoming Disney+ releases. This teaser trailer delivers our first official looks at Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and, especially, Wonder Man! Everything looks so good!

I remain a staunch fan of Marvel Studios content. Agatha All Along was very good and I really enjoyed the finale. And I can’t wait for these shows! I know people aren’t too excited for Ironheart, but I think it looks good! I prefer my Iron People to be nuts and bolts, not nanomachines. And Wonder Man could be a real sleeper hit. Daredevil: Born Again will hopefully live up to all the hype. And the various cartoons should be a hoot!

Granted, this means 2025 is going to be full of Marvel content, with three movies and now half a dozen shows. But I think Marvel just needs to burn off all these completed projects before they slow their releases. And I’m all for it!

There’s Gonna Be a Wonder Man Show!

The rumors have been swirling for a while that a Wonder Man TV show as in the works from Marvel Studios. I’m all for it. I’m all for any show or movie or special presentation that Marvel wants to make next. I’m a sucker like that. So they want to make Wonder Man? Heck yeah!

Especially since they have cast Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man!

He’s a great actor. He was perfectly cast as Black Manta in the Aquaman movie. He was great as Dr. Manhattan in the Watchmen TV show. I’m sure I’ve seen him in other roles. Abdul-Mateen should be great! It’s going to be directed and produced by Destin Daniel Cretton, the guy behind Shang-Chi, with help from Andrew Guest, who worked on Hawkeye. Sounds like a winning team. So bring on the Wonder Man TV show on Disney+ and lets all skewer Hollywood together!

Maybe he’ll need an entertainment lawyer and Jennifer Walters can cameo.
