We’ve Had a Live Action Starfire This Whole Time!
The third season of the TV show Titans is due out…I think any year now…on HBO Max! We’ve already seen the live action Red Hood costume, and now they’ve revealed the new, more comics-accurate Starfire costume!
Here’s actor Anna Diop in the flashy purple Starfire costume!
I think it looks neat! It also looks a little awkward, but then a proper comic book Starfire costume was probably always going to look awkward. At least she’s not being made to wear a purple metal bikini on national TV…or HBO Max.
I still need to watch the second season of Titans.

Check Out These Awesome Bat-Family Costumes!
We live in a golden age of live action superhero costumes! Gone are the days of moody black leather. Now superheroes on both the big and small screens get to dress in comics-accurate attire! And it looks great!
Yesterday saw the first official images of the new Batwoman and Red Hood costumes from the second season of the Batwoman TV show and the third season of the Titans TV show respectively.
Here is Javicia Leslie in costume as Ryan Wilder, the new Batwoman.
The Ryan Wilder character recently made her first appearance in the comics. Maybe she’ll become the new Batwoman in comics as well? Time will tell! I think she looks great!
Next up is actor Curran Walters as the Red Hood!
Walters played Jason Todd as Robin in the first two seasons of Titans. I haven’t seen the second season yet, so I don’t know what happened to him. But apparently it was enough for him to go full Red Hood for season 3! I need to start watching that show again. And I never did watch Batwoman to begin with.
To think I live in a day and age where there are so many superhero TV shows that I actively don’t watch some of them! I should be so lucky!

How About Some DC Trailers for Once?
I’m not just all about the Marvel, people! I like DC stuff too! At least when they deliver good stuff! For example, I’m pretty excited by this trailer for the second season of Titans. I enjoyed the first season, especially all the awesome, live action Robin stuff. Season 2 seems to be taking us closer to Nightwing!
And, thankfully, we’ve got a Bruce Wayne for Dick Grayson to bounce off of. It was really frustrating when all of Dick Grayson’s seminal moments growing up were alone instead of with Bruce/Batman.
The new season starts on Sept. 6 — my birthday!
There’s also a new trailer for the Joker movie. I am less excited about this one.
As I’ve mentioned plenty of times before, I just don’t care about the Joker. And a movie about the Joker without Batman? I dunno…Granted, I’ll go see it opening day, because that’s the sort of person I am. But this trailer isn’t getting me too excited. Seems like just a crazy movie about a guy going crazy who happens to be the Joker.
But we’ll see! Maybe it’ll be really good. Joker arrives in theaters on Oct. 4.

Titans is Adding a Bunch of New Stuff to Season 2!
I enjoyed the first season of Titans on the DC streaming service. It treated the characters well, had a good story and presented the best live action Robin we’ve ever had. That counts for a lot with me. Well season 2 is on the way!
That’s a pretty rushed trailer, but there’s still a lot to show off. More Robin! Jason Todd! A cooler looking Raven! Bruce freakin’ Wayne, finally! Maybe we’ll even get Nightwing.
It’s a good show. I’m excited for seasons 2!

6 Thoughts on the First Season of Titans
A kickass, live action Robin? In an actual ongoing TV show? That pays respect to both the character and the legacy? How did it take me this long to finally watch Titans on the DC streaming service?! As a big fan of both the original Teen Titans cartoon, the newer Teen Titans Go! cartoon, and whatever is happening with the Young Justice cartoon, I knew I had to get on board with the darker, grittier, live action version too!
TV Show Rating: 8/10 – Very Good.
I remember that everybody was really unsure about this show when it was first revealed, with a Comic-Con trailer that really threw people for a loop. I was one of the skeptics, I’ll admit. Despite all of these superhero shows over the past many years, I still find it hard to believe that I live in a world where this is common. Where I could get a live action TV show starring a comics accurate Dick Grayson, with both an awesome modern Robin costume, and a complicated relationship with Batman. It doesn’t help that shows like Titans and Gotham continue to refuse to just make a show about Batman, so it’s not yet a perfect world. But this is a good start!
Join me after the jump for my thoughts on Titans! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the first season.
