It Seems I Missed Some Awesome Bebop and Rocksteady News!
I’ve already said it a few times on this blog recently, but I have developed a new respect for Bebop and Rocksteady in my growing years. I don’t think I much cared for them in the 80s, when they were bumbling henchmen to the Shredder in the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. But as I grow older, I find myself liking them and their potential more and more.
Which is why I’m so ashamed that I missed this awesome Bebop and Rocksteady news from earlier this year!
Fortunately, there’s been a new bump in content, so I can safely announce it today without too much Internet scorn.
Is anybody else watching the new Ninja Turtles cartoon on Nickelodeon? It’s actually a very good show. The animation is top notch, the mythology is expertly crafted; it really is a love letter to all things awesome about the Ninja Turtles. I have nothing but good things to say about the cartoon – except that their villains are terrible. All of them. Across the board. For the most part.
Fortunately, that’s about to change!
In the interest of SPOILERS, I’m going to wait until after the jump to reveal the awesome news!
6 Things I Want to See in a Ninja Turtles Sequel
I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I couldn’t help myself. The film was too energetic to be boring, and I will forever be a lifelong fan of the Ninja Turtles. That’s not to say it wasn’t a ridiculously stupid movie. There were so many plot holes and gaps in logic that I considered making a whole List of Six out of those flubs.
But I’m a positive guy who loves everything Ninja Turtles related! With a sequel already announced, I felt like embracing this franchise and everything it has to offer!
And I’m only maybe talking about the Punk Frogs. One of the things I loved most about the Ninja Turtles cartoon in the 80s was the huge cast of fun and colorful mutants. But Michael Bay and Friends should probably stay away from adding too many new mutants to a movie franchise. So that’s out. I also probably shouldn’t request they change everything, like the stupid new take on the Turtles’ origin. We’re probably stuck with this new status quo, but it’s not so bad, as long as you just ignore it and focus on other parts of the movie.
As bad as this movie might be, we’re looking at a whole new Ninja Turtles franchise here, folks. I, for one, am going to embrace this new madness! Join me after the jump for my six suggestions for the Ninja Turtles sequel!
Fear the Wrath of Internet Mockery, Ninja Turtles!
Sadly, I’m not going to see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie this weekend (or happily, depending on your point of view). I kind of want to see it, no matter how bad it’s going to be. But I’m on vacation this weekend, headed to Boston Comic-Con! That will, hopefully, be a lot more fun. And I’ll be able to talk a lot more about Comic-Con after the weekend. Until then, I’m going to milk the Ninja Turtles for more enjoyment!
Such as, Everything Wrong with the first Ninja Turtles movie courtesy of Cinema Sins!
Then we switch gears for an Honest Trailer of Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze!
As a kid, the sequel was my favorite, but it does not hold up very well. I think I watched both movies a few weeks ago, and the both were pretty alright.
As a bonus, we also have Everything Wrong with TMNT, a movie I actually saw in theaters. It was not my finest moment.
Before I leave you, how about I ask the most important question ever: Who is your favorite Ninja Turtle?
Mine is Leonardo. Boss.

6 Best Ninja Turtle Knock-Offs
After serious contemplation, I think my favorite cartoon growing up in the 80s was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There were a lot of cartoons to choose from, but the Turtles were my favorite. They were great characters, their show was just a lot of fun, and I loved the toyline, which had even more awesome mutants. I loved that there was this endless supply of funny, cool, and radical mutants to collect.
So I’m pretty excited to see the new live action Ninja Turtle movie, even if it threatens to be as soulless as Michael Bay’s Transformers.
But there’s a dark side to my love for the Turtles as well, and that is my love for all of their crappy knock-offs too. Like all successful franchises, the Ninja Turtles spawned more than their fair share of crappy rip-offs. But whereas other companies can’t steal the Transformers without being obvious, it wasn’t that hard to make an action cartoon about anthropomorphic animal superheroes.
Join me after the jump for the best (or crappiest, depending on your point of view) Ninja Turtle knock-offs!
The Ninja Turtles Sure Have Changed
