Let’s Take Another New Look at Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
A new, extended trailer/clip of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes came out yesterday, and it’s the perfect sort of thing for me to share on this idle Tuesday. It’s got one extended clip that doesn’t give too much away, and then some more trailer, wanting you to watch this film on IMAX.
This movie looks great! The CGI is perfect. The character dynamics seem really cool. The drama feels great. This will hopefully be a damn fun film!
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes to theaters on May 10.

Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer Debuts at Super Bowl
We all knew this trailer was coming. The Super Bowl is a time for many movie trailers, and we all knew that Deadpool 3 was going to be the one to watch. It’s the only Marvel Studios movie coming out this year. It might be the only movie that matters. And the trailer is pretty neat.
Considering how much leaked footage and pictures and promotional materials there have been of Wolverine, I’m surprised they didn’t show more of him in the trailer. Really, we just got a lot of Deadpool in the TVA. At least his suit looks all spiffy and new! And very red! I’ll take it!
Deadpool & Wolverine comes to theaters on July 26.
Next up is the trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. And this looks damn good.
That was a great trailer! Showed a lot more of the story, but not all of it. Now we know they’re sort of doing the original movie, with the modern human on the planet. And it just looks damn cool. I’m really excited about this one.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes to theaters on May 10.
Thirdly, we’ve got Twisters, the random sequel.
This trailer didn’t do much for me. It’s just a bunch of tornadoes again. It was cool when the original Twister came out a million years ago, but can they still be cool? I suppose we’ll find out.
Twisters will be in theaters on July 19.
Lastly, the trailer for the first half of a Wicked two-parter.
I’ve never read the book or seen the play, but I’ve always wanted to. The trailer looks pretty crazy. That key song is in it, of course. It’s a great song. From everything I’ve read, splitting Wicked into two movies is probably a good idea. So I’m for sure excited about seeing this one and finally seeing what all of the fuss is about.
Wicked comes to theaters around Thanksgiving.

We’re Going Back to the Planet of the Apes
I was a big fan of that recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, with the realistic-looking apes. It was very well made, very dramatic, and just very damn cool. Well Hollywood never let a good franchise die, so we’re going back to that world with a fourth film, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. These titles just keep getting crazier.
I think it looks cool! The same tone, same feel and same everything seems to be in place. The new film is set several generations after the first trilogy, so there won’t be any immediate character continuations. And we’re probably even getting closer in the timeline to the original Planet of the Apes. I think that would be pretty neat if this movie series comes full circle and does a remake of the original movie in this style.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes comes to theaters Memorial Day Weekend next year.

What Does Woody Harrelson Have Against Apes All of a Sudden?
I’m a big fan of the modern Planet of the Apes movies. They’ve been good and hugely entertaining. So definitely sign me up for the latest one this summer. War for the Planet of the Apes.
But it’s a little weird that the mighty ape king, Caesar, keeps going up against a new human adversary each movie. I suppose it would be even weirder if he fought the same human each time. But still, Woody Harrelson just seems to pop into the franchise with this film.
With everything else in the world coming to an end, why devote any of your resources to trying to go kill a bunch of apes?

Big Day Today, So Here Are Some Apes Firing Machine Guns While Riding Horses
Big day today here in Henchman Land! No, my blog isn’t up for Awesomest Blog of the Year or anything like that. I’ve got some personal business today that could change everything! Or if it falls through, I might end up in a sadness spiral the likes of which only binging on ice cream and cartoons can cure. So wish me luck!
In other news, let’s start off this week with some Cinema Sins. They can always be counted on for a good time. Here we have Everything Wrong With Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve really enjoyed these Apes movies. I’ve never seen the original, and I think I was OK with Tim Burton’s remake, but these new ones have been really good. So Sin on, you crazy apes!
