More Guardians of the Galaxy Goodness!

Can I just say that there are few things I hate more than actors talking about their roles? It’s like nails on a chalkboard. It just sounds like such pretentious drivel. I realize actors put a lot of work into getting in character, and they understand the characters they play, but especially with superhero roles, they just sound so fake. It’s like the marketing department told them exactly what to say.

But I’m still in a Guardians of the Galaxy mood, and they were nice enough to put a few videos out yesterday.

Well that’s the new poster. The videos are after the jump! They also feature the first spoken one-liner from Rocket Raccoon, so that’s definitely a big deal. Just try not to be as disgusted as I am with the canned actor interviews.

First Guardians of the Galaxy Poster is Here – And I Like It!

Guardians of the Galaxy could represent the future of Marvel movies. Have they earned enough clout and reputation to get people to see a movie starring characters they’ve never heard of before? I sure hope so!

I thought that was a really good trailer. This is clearly Chris Pratt’s year. He just starred in the hugely popular The LEGO Movie, and now he might be the best part of Guardians of the Galaxy. I thought he was really funny and personable in that trailer. It worked great. I only wish the other characters had some lines in the trailer. This was the perfect opportunity to introduce audiences to Rocket Raccoon, Groot and the others. I at least expected a one-liner at the end of the trailer from Rocket. Heck, even Gamora didn’t get anything more than a sultry bare-back shot.

I want some Rocket Raccoon!

Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer Tonight!

UPDATE: Check out this 15 second teaser clip in preparation for tonight’s trailer release! Looks awesome!

I wish I had the first Guardians of the Galaxy trailer for you right now, but the fools of the world decided to debut it instead on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. I’m not about to watch Jimmy Kimmel Live, so I’ll be waiting for when it hits the web. But if you want to stay up, knock yourselves out.

To tide us all over, Marvel was kind enough to release this beautiful official image!

They don’t look half bad

Looks pretty awesome to me. This trailer is going to either kick the most ass ever, or it’s going to reveal Guardians of the Galaxy to be a huge bomb! I’m hoping for the former.

Guardians of the Galaxy Comes Out of Hiding

On the last day of 2013, Marvel posted the first official picture for Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as the first official plot synopsis. No word yet on the first trailer. Take a look.

I’m…conflicted. I don’t really like the sound of that synopsis, and not just in the ways it flouts comic book continuity. That doesn’t matter to me all that much anymore. What bugs me is that this film sounds like an origin story, of how Quill and the Guardians get together. I wasn’t expecting that…and I don’t think I like it. I was hoping Guardians would be like Serenity, where the crew is already together and are quickly introduced. Most people didn’t watch the TV show, but a ton of people went to see the movie. And Serenity easily introduced the entire cast with ease and aplomb. Why couldn’t Guardians do that too?

But I’m nit-picking, and I don’t want to do that. I’m just being honest. I have total faith in Marvel and the people behind Guardians. It’s going to be great! (I hope…)

Fashionably Late to the Rocket Raccoon Party

Last week, it was announced that Bradley Cooper had been cast as the voice of Rocket Raccoon in next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy. I should have done something then, but along came the holiday weekend, and some X-Boxing, so I just kind of blew it off. Well, today is a slow news day, so say hello to your Rocket Raccoon!

There’s a Hangover joke in here somewhere

I haven’t made up my mind yet whether or not I care for this casting. Cooper seems like an inspired choice, but then I’m having a hard time picturing his voice coming out of a CGI raccoon. Cooper has a calm, level voice, I think, very human. Not something you’d expect from an insane, gun-wielding space raccoon.

But maybe he’ll surprise us. Meanwhile, I’m totally behind Vin Diesel as Groot.
