A Merry Whovian Christmas to You All
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas this year. The Mills family had another exceptional Christmas Blast. We tend to go big on Christmas, at least in terms of getting the whole family together, exchanging gifts for everybody and having a frollicking good time. I have to work today, so I didn’t get to stay home with my folks Christmas night, instead driving back to my apartment to sleep. But that was cool too, because I watched the annual Doctor Who Christmas special with my girlfriend!
I know I’ve got some Whovians reading my blog. What did everybody think of ‘The Snowmen’? I thought it was quite awesome. Seeing the Doctor all depressed and mopey was fun, especially the gradual coming out of his shell. I also loved his Victorian Era costume. New companion Clara seems to be quite fun and very quirky, which always makes for a good companion. Though she does seem to have some mystery about her. The villains weren’t all that troublesome or memorable (although one review I read mentioned that the Great Intelligence was a Doctor Who villain decades ago, and that they might be reviving them for the 50th anniversary. That would be neat!) I really loved the guest appearances by Vastra, Jenny and Strax. They would be awesome as reoccurring characters.
So yeah, Christmas fun all around! The List of Six is going to be a little late this week. But don’t worry, I’ll get around to it. And otherwise, I just wanted to share with everyone this preview of the second half of Doctor Who Season 7.
Don’t watch if you haven’t yet watched the Christmas Special!
Looks like fun!
Batgirl and Supergirl’s Cookie Exchange
Merry Christmas from Henchman-4-Hire! And from artist Mike Maihack!
I’m so glad that Mike Maihack is taking care of Christmas for me. While I’m out spending the day with my family, I can count on him to draw an adorable new Batgirl and Supergirl adventure to celebrate the holidays! I posted his previous comic last year. They are just the some of the most adorable superhero comics you’ll find this side of Super Best Friends Forever, which also happens to star Batgirl and Supergirl. Funny how that works out.
Anyway, I hope everybody’s having a Merry Christmas and some enjoyable holidays!
Review: Saga #8
This issue perfectly captures the fun and personality of a Brian K. Vaughn book, and shows us exactly why Saga is one of the very best comic books on the stands these days. You don’t need superheroes to make a comic book good. You just need fun characters, fun adventures and apparently a rocket ship made out of a tree. Fortunately, Saga has all of those things.
Everything I wanted to happen last issue happens in this issue. Characters have meaningful moments and conversations. We learn new and interesting things about nearly everybody. And everything seems to really mean something.
Comic rating: 5/5: Great.
It turns out that last issue was all just st up for this issue. And while that definitely counted against last issue, we can still celebrate this issue! Last issue introduced Marko’s mom and dad, then paired them off with either him or Alana, but did nothing with them. Well, did very little. This issue has all of the emotional moments, conversations and twists that I could have hoped for, and all written with Vaughn’s typical wit and charm. It makes Barr and Klara worthwhile additions to the cast – especially Barr, who has some excellent moments – and it truly propels the ongoing story into its next chapter.
After a disappointing previous issue, Saga is back on course, as far as I’m concerned. The immediate danger has passed, and Vaughn is ready to start spending time with these characters and getting to know them. I couldn’t be happier with this issue.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 12/22/12
What the hell, Marvel!? Some of us still have Christmas shopping to do, yet you hit us the week before Christmas with a massive pile of new comics to buy? Jeez louise! Bad enough this is also my heavy DC Comics week too! So let’s just say I bought a ton of comics this week, all so Marvel can be all fancy and only release Amazing Spider-Man #700 next week. Their big marketing scheme is hell on my wallet. At least most of the comics that came out this week were pretty good.
Everything under the sun seemed to come out this week, giving us a wide range of different titles. We’ve got major releases for the Avengers, X-Men and the Fantastic Four, not to mention both X-Force titles. If you’re more into Batman and the Death of the Family story, there are both the Nightwing and Red Hood tie-ins, one of which was good and the other quite bad. So very busy week. And though there were a lot of great titles, I think FF #2 pulls away with Comic Book of the Week. I really think that title is going to live up to its awesome potential.

Nobody Told Me There Was a LEGO Design Contest
But that’s OK, because Back to the Future won!
Apparently there’s this thing called LEGO CUUSOO where people submit their own LEGO designs, and once they reached 10,000 votes, then LEGO will officially review the project and decide whether or not to make it a reality. That is the coolest LEGO idea I have ever heard. And I’m sad that I’d never heard of it before now. But that’s OK! Now I know, and now I can enjoy.
Well someone submitted the famous DeLorean time machine, they reached 10,000 votes and LEGO has decided to make it a real, official, LEGO set! How cool is that?
Pretty darn cool.
