Holy Cow, Red Arrow Looks Awesome!

Roy Harper is probably going to be called Arsenal in Arrow, but I’ve been a fan of the ‘Red Arrow’ moniker since back when he joined the Justice League, before the bad, cat-related times. I was a huge fan of Roy’s storyline in Season 2, and it looks like it’s going to get even better in Season 3!

That’s an even more badass outfit than what Oliver Queen wears! And it’s much better than the silly red hoodie he wore in the first two seasons. According to Entertainment Weekly, Roy is going to start out Episode 1 in costume, a full member of Team Arrow. That’s badass news for this big time Arrow and Arsenal fan!

The 6 Characters on My Justice League

Welcome to Comic-Con week! I’m not in San Diego, so I don’t get to join in on all the festivities. But the great thing about the Internet is that I can talk up a comic book storm and still feel like I’m part of the fun. One of these days I’ll get to go to San Diego Comic-Con. Maybe when I’m rich.

To celebrate the craziest comic book week of the year, I’ve decided to mirror what I did last year and put together my dream team of a superhero roster. Last year it was the Avengers, this year it’s the Justice League!

United!

And I’m talking a New 52 continuity Justice League.

Personally, I like the idea that the Justice League is made up of the top superheroes at DC Comics. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest are a solid lineup that holds a lot of weight in the hearts and minds of the fans. But how boring would it be if my list was just the same old seven heroes? So I’ve decided to get a little creative.

If DC Comics hired me to write the Justice League comic, and gave me cart blanche to include whoever I wanted in the roster, these would be the 6 characters on my team. I would love to hear your own dream team lineup in the comments!

If the Ninja Turtles Wore Clothes, They Would All Have Popped Collars

Basically, the more trailers I see for the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, the more I realize they’d just a bunch of bros. Michelangelo, especially. And not ‘brothers’, which of course they are, but I mean popped collar, beer chugging, fraternity pledging, ultra bros. It’s kind of off-putting.

Possibly because I’m more of a geek, and reject those bro-life stereotypes. But man, this movie is clearly being made to appeal to a certain audience, and considering that same audience is pushing Transformers: Age of Extinction towards $1 billion, I have a sinking feeling that the new Ninja Turtles movie is going to be similar.

Whereas I just want Guardians of the Galaxy to succeed! Come on, people. Go see Guardians of the Galaxy multiple times!

Supergirl and Batgirl Are Still Adorbs

The Internet is still going ga-ga over Batgirl’s new redesign, so we should have expected adorable artist-extraordinaire, Mike Maihack to have his say. And, of course, it’s great.

I even like his dig at New 52 Harley Quinn!

Star Wars Rebels Looks Fine, I Guess

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Star Wars: Rebels cartoon, though it’s pretty much just an extended version of the last trailer. Still, it’s got Obi-Wan Kenobi in it, so that makes this trailer better by default.

I’m still very hesitant about this show. I finished watching Clone Wars a few weeks ago, and while that show was fun, it wasn’t the best thing since sliced bread. I also rewatched the original Star Wars trilogy a few weeks ago, and those movies really are surprisingly good films. I don’t think I’d seen them in years, but sitting down and watching them back-to-back was a real treat.

At any rate, this new Rebels cartoon looks to be about as cliche as you’d expect. It’s got the Luke character, it’s got the Han and Chewie characters, it’s got its own Darth Vader, and it’s even got its own R2-D2. And do they really want to put a Jedi into the Rebellion from the very beginning? Why wouldn’t you want to keep Luke Skywalker as the only Jedi in the Rebellion, who comes along at a time when they need him most? But that’s just my opinion. If you guys and gals are going ga-ga for Rebels, by all means!
