6 Things I Want To See in the Second Season of X-Men ’97
The first season of X-Men ’97 was a masterpiece. It was perfect from beginning to end. And one of the best parts of the series was how it took multiple storylines from the comics and condensed and reworked them to fit the show’s own, largely original storyline. It was brilliantly done. I gave the show a perfect 10/10 score in my review last week. Loved it!
So what about season 2?
X-Men ’97 has already been confirmed for a second and third season. In fact, season 2 is already in production. Showrunner Beau DeMayo has been fired by Marvel for reasons that have not yet been revealed, but he wrote a lot of the scripts for season 2, so there should be some quality assured. But aside from Apocalypse being a main focus, season 2 could feature pretty much anything and anyone. Season 1 was also filled to the brim with cameos and Easter Egg character appearances. Anyone could appear from anywhere in the franchise.
I did a List of Six years ago about characters and concepts I hoped to see in X-Men ’97. Nothing on that list came to pass. Now that we know what we can expect from this show, I’ve put together a new list specifically for what I’d like to see in season 2! And expect FULL SPOILERS for season 1 in this list as I discuss what I’d like to see happen next!

But, like, Wicked has been a famous stage play for a very long time now, so who is really complaining? I’ve never even seen Wicked on stage, but I’m pretty sure I know the story just from listening to the song and general online discourse. Still, consider this a warning before you watch the trailer for the upcoming Wicked movie: it gives the whole story away.
I think this movie looks neat. I’m never going to see the Broadway show of Wicked, so a movie is right up my alley. It’s supposed to be a great production, with great songs, and I think this movie — the first of two parts — should do nicely for my viewing needs. I wanna see Wicked! And on the big screen is the way I see things, so bring it on!
Wicked comes to theaters on Nov. 26.

Assassin’s Creed is Finally Going to Japan
We all knew this was going to happen eventually. The Assassin’s Creed games no longer have their normal stranglehold on history games, but they’ve finally decided to make an entry in Japan. I’ve largely been a fan of most AC games I’ve played, so perhaps I’ll get my hopes up about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
The internet is pretty up in arms about Ubisoft in general. And I’ll admit, I haven’t played probably half of the Assassin’s Creed games. But I loved Origins in Egypt and Odyssey in Ancient Greece, maybe I’ll like the one in Japan? Though I didn’t care for Valhalla…I dunno. The games are the games, and I like the look of this one, so I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.
Here’s a companion video explaining the new main characters, one of them a samurai and one of them a ninja.
Obviously, whatever stupid controversy that exists on the internet has no place here. I like the look and ideas behind both characters. And I don’t have very many games I’m looking forward to this year, so I shall get my hopes up slightly, perhaps.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is coming out on Nov. 15.

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 5/18/24
Sorry I missed reviews last week, everybody. I had a busy end of week and just couldn’t make room for reviews. Fortunately, I’m in the new phase where I go easier on myself for not hitting deadlines. But I did read a couple of comics this week, so let’s do another one of these!
Comic Book of the Week goes to Action Comics #1065 for another excellent chapter of the House of Brainiac storyline. Good times all around with that one!
Meanwhile, I was on vacation this week and spent my time playing God of War: Ragnarok, which is just as awesome and as much fun as the previous game. I finished the Knuckles TV show and it was fine, definitely in line with the Sonic movies. I loved Velma season 2. I enjoyed The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. And I hope to see the Furiosa movie next weekend! Good times all around for me.
Comic Reviews: Action Comics #1065 and ThunderCats #4.

I mean, jeez louis, people. What an intense and amazing two months this has been. My expectations were very tempered when this show was first announced, and then we go those first few trailers. But from episode one, I have been hooked and completely on board with this insane idea that worked far, far better than it had any right to work.
TV Show Rating: 10/10 – Fantastic
I was a huge fan of the original X-Men Animated Series when it came out in the 1990s. I was the perfect age for it and was already solidly versed with the comics — though not the comics that were current at the time. The show introduced me to characters like Gambit, Rogue and Jubilee, and then so much more beyond them. The original show was everything. And now this new continuation is everything again. It’s so damn good. They did everything right and then some. X-Men ’97 is so good, I wonder if it will affect the MCU plans for the X-Men going forward…
Anyway, the finale aired yesterday and I’m ready to talk about the show! Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole show. Seriously! DO NOT READ THIS LIST if you haven’t watched X-Men ’97! But if you have, join me after the jump for my thoughts! And please feel free to share your thoughts and review in the comments below!
