Batman: Caped Crusader Looks Pretty Sweet!

There’s a new Batman cartoon coming! We haven’t had one of those in a few years, and this one looks to be pretty spiffy! Batman: Caped Crusader is going to focus on Batman in a 1920s/30s/40s aesthetic, I don’t know which decade this looks to be exactly. It’s all tommy guns and gangsters in full suits. I love the look and feel of the show, based on this first trailer.

As always, I hope we get Robin eventually. But even without the Boy Wonder, this looks very awesome to me. I love the look, I love the feel, I love the focus this trailer puts on detective work. I love the sense of Batman being this lone crusader working from the shadows, instead of already being an omnipresent superhero of might. This trailer looks great!

Batman: Caped Crusader is coming to Amazon Prime starting Aug. 1!

6 of My Preferred Superman Status Quos

I started watching My Adventures With Superman recently and it’s pretty fun! We’ve also got that new Superman movie coming out next year or so. And that live action Superman & Lois show is coming upon it’s last season. So everything is coming up Superman these days! I figured that meant I should do a Superman list.

High hopes for this film

This list is about my personally preferred Superman status quos. Is that the right way to say it? I wasn’t sure of the word choice. Basically, there are a bunch of factoids about Superman’s basic set up and origin, and they tend to change from one adaptation or comic to the next. It’ll make more sense what I’m talking about once I get to the actual list. I’m not entirely sure where these opinions came from, probably stuff I was introduced to about the character when I was a kid. And now all of that has been weathered by age and seeing various takes on the Man of Steel. Well, these are my favorite takes!

Join me after the jump for my personal choices when it comes to crafting Superman’s status quo! And feel free to share your own versions in the comments below!

Get Ready For Another Spooky Vampire Movie!

Vampires are eternal. Especially in movies. So there’s going to be another spooky vampire moving coming out this year: Nosferatu! Made by Robert Eggers, who made The Witch, The Lighthouse and the Northman. Sadly, this movie is not called The Vampire or The Nosferatu. It’s a remake of a 1922 film, which was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

This could be fun. Weird and fun. I’ve only ever seen The Northman by Eggers, and was not all that impressed. He’s the guy who makes really weird, artsy movies. I want to like those, but I rarely do. So we’ll see. This is definitely spooky enough to be a spooky vampire movie.

Nosferatu comes out Christmas Day, because of course it does. Now that’s some synergy I can get behind!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/22/24

Another week where a lot of my favorite comics come out! But I’m not reviewing everything anymore these days. Some times a new comic is just really enjoyable, but there’s not much I have to say about it, so to spare my sanity sometimes, I’m just not going to include it. Looking at you, latest excellent issue of Nightwing…But we do have new Batman and Ultimate Spider-Man comics!

Comic Book of the Week goes to Wonder Woman #10 for a truly emotional and heartfelt issue that finally addresses the Cheetah in the room.

Also much kicking

Meanwhile, not much else going on for me right now. I’m juggling a few different video games until I settle on something big and new. Maybe Elden Ring, finally? I’m not really vibing with The Acolyte, haven’t started The Boys. Haven’t read any of my big pile of graphic novels. Moving along nicely on making Gamer Girl & Vixen. And surviving this heat wave. So yeah, just kinda strolling along through life.

Comic Reviews: Batman #149, Ultimate Spider-Man #6 and Wonder Woman #10.

Here’s a New Look at that Penguin TV Show (No, the New One)

The Penguin is still coming to Max, now set for a September release. I’m excited. I very much enjoyed The Batman movie and I think it’s a great idea to actually see that spin off into a legitimate TV show. Plus, TV has been making successful and enjoyable crime shows for decades. Surely somebody can take that winning formula and apply it to Gotham City, right?!

I think it looks good. Colin Farrell is obviously going to great lengths to bring this character to life, and he was very entertaining in The Batman. So just apply that to a hopefully gripping, dangerous and exciting crime show and we could have magic happen! And then, hopefully, somebody will just turn Gotham Central into a TV show as well, in the same universe.

And hopefully they won’t be afraid to use Batman, at least a little.

The Penguin comes to Max in September.
