The New Trailer for the Third Wolverine Movie Has Me Wondering Why They’re Doing Old Man Logan

I have no idea what FOX plans to do with the X-Men franchise. The latest film, Apocalypse, landed with a big old dud this past summer. For some reason, they’ve been sticking to the same fractured and altered continuity all these years, including in their spin-off films. So what does the new film, Logan, have to do with any of that?

So despite everything that has come before, they’re now going to make a movie set in the future where older and more grizzled versions of Wolverine and Professor X team up to save a little girl from the Reavers? I’m sure they’ll try to get a good movie out of that, and perhaps they’ll succeed, but now that I’m actually watching the trailer, I think it’s a weird choice.

The trailer is alright. The film looks gritty enough. And that Johnny Cash cover is one of my favorite songs of all time, and definitely fits the theme. But I dunno. I’m just not sure where they’re going with this…

Great Googily Moogily, the First Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Trailer is Here!

And it’s amazing and hilarious in equal measure! I’m stunned here, people. It’s just an idle Wednesday. Where is this coming from? I know Doctor Strange will be released any day now, but I was not ready for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to suddenly drop in my lap. I was not prepared for today.

Just…just sit back and enjoy. Rewatch it a few times. Director James Gunn says an even bigger trailer is coming soon (probably to air alongside Doctor Strange in theaters), but this little teaser is more than enough for me. It’s just perfect. This trailer is funnier than entire movies.

The 6 Most Badass Moments From the Darth Vader Comic

Darth Vader is a badass. We’ve always known this. It’s written into our code as science fiction-loving human beings. But how often do we actually get to see him be a badass? His lightsaber duel with Obi-Wan is a couple of old dudes knocking some sticks together. He can’t stop Luke Skywalker from blowing up the Death Star. He leaves it up to a bounty hunter to find the Millennium Falcon. And mostly he’s either whining over his wife or whining over his son. The dude is the most menacing villain in the history of cinema, but the movies leave a lot to be desired.

Fortunately, that’s where the comics come in!

Ever since Marvel took over writing Star Wars comics, they have been doing a real bang up job. Writer Kireon Gillen and artist Salvador Larocca were on the Darth Vader comic, which lasted 25 regular issues and a couple bonus issues. The series came to an end last week in grand fashion. This was one hell of a comic. The Darth Vader series presented the Dark Lord of the Sith in ways we’ve never been before. This was a Vader unrestrained by a special effects budget or story choices that focus on Luke. This was a Darth Vader powerful in the Dark Side and loyal to the Empire. This was Darth Vader as a force of nature head of state who commands fear and respect wherever he goes!

And to celebrate this awesome series, I went back through my issues and picked out six of the coolest moments from Marvel’s Darth Vader comics! Hopefully this will convince you to pick up the series if you haven’t already. Join me after the jump!

Assassin’s Creed Movie is Going to Be Super Extended Desmond Section

There’s a new trailer out for the Assassin’s Creed movie, and apparently the film looks to be focusing on he boring present-day stuff instead of the meat and potatoes of the franchise. Who the hell plays an Assassin’s Creed game for the present day stuff?! Why is that a focus?!

It’s not like they’re only using Michael Fassbender in the present day stuff. He’s also acting in the Spanish Inquisition scenes! Why are they doing this?! Nobody liked the Desmond segments from the first games! They were so dumb. We played Assassin’s Creed so we could be badass assassin’s parkouring around ancient civilizations! And the movie clearly has those scenes in it. There is so much Spanish Inquisition-era parkour!

Who thought this would be a good idea?

Super Big, Fan-Spliced Trailer for Rogue One is Pretty Neat

Did you guys hear there was a new Star Wars movie coming out this year?

Once again, I wish I had some actual skill when it comes to video editing. I know how to do it, but man, I could never pull off something this good. The world has passed me by! Fortunately, I can always just go see Rogue One in December! Major props to Science vs. Cinema for putting this together.
