New Superman Cartoon Incoming

We’ve known about My Adventures With Superman for a while, but now we’ve finally got a really good trailer for the upcoming animated show. It features Superman and the gang from the Daily Planet in an almost anime-style of animation. Looks pretty good.

I’ll probably watch. I don’t remember my track record on watching new DC superhero cartoons off the top of my head. I’m not religious about it, not like I am with Marvel shows. But this one looks neat and I’ll probably give it a watch. Though I might be reaching peak Jack Quaid tolerance…

My Adventures With Superman will debut on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network on July 6, then also post episodes to the Max streaming service.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is Free to Watch on YouTube

Just passing this along as a quality, nerdy PSA: the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is free to watch on YouTube for a limited time. I was never a Trekkie back in the day, but I’ve watched my fair share in the modern day, and I absolutely love Star Trek: Lower Decks. I’ve been meaning to give Strange New Worlds a try, but never found the time…until now! Because it’s free!

Here’s the first episode. And you can find the other nine on the Paramount+ YouTube page.

So yeah, the whole season is available to watch for free, as a promotion for the upcoming season 2. That’s a fun marketing strategy as far as I’m concerned! As of this posting, I’m six episodes in and it’s pretty good stuff. Quality, I’d say. This is a classic episode-of-the-week format, where the familiar crew of characters tackles some strange new sci-fi mystery each episode, while some longer character arcs simmer in the background. Nothing mind-blowing or anything similarly blowing me away, but I’m enjoying the show well enough, so I wanted to recommend this free watch to everybody.

And I am very much looking forward to a season two crossover between Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks, in which the animated Lower Decks characters will appear in live action.

Oh, uh, also, don’t watch this season 2 trailer unless you don’t care about spoilers and just wanna see the live action trailer cameos.

Heck yeah! How neat is that?!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 6/3/23

Wowzers, who could have seen this coming? I barely had a single comic to read and review this week. Maybe because Wednesday fell on the 31st? Either way, there’s only one, and it’s Captain America. Mostly because I’m not about to pay any attention to what’s happening in Amazing Spider-Man anymore.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Captain America: Symbol of Truth #13 because it’s the only comic I read this week, and it’s fine. I had a busy week.

He’s talking about his fist

Meanwhile, what do you want from me? I’m gonna be playing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for a very long time, and I’m still very much in that. Haven’t beaten the game, probably not even close. I’m just doing a lot of wandering, checking out some YouTube videos for new things to build. It’s all just great. Though I did manage to find time to watch Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and it was amazing! Tune in on Wednesday for my thoughts/review.

Conan O’Brien Does Good Travel TV

It’s a quiet Friday. I’ve got a half day at work and plan to spend the rest of my day back in Hyrule. So how about this old trailer for the upcoming Conan O’Brien Must Go TV show? He had some great travel segments on his last talk show, and they’re turning that into a whole show!

Seriously, those travel segments were great, if you can find them on YouTube. He’d visit other countries and just have fun with it. And this new show looks to be the same thing, so I’m fully on board. No release date yet, but hopefully soon. The dude is still funny.

Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Looks Spectacular

I have loved everything I’ve seen about the upcoming animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I have been a Turtles fan since I was a little kid in the ’80s. They were my jam. And I have gladly checked out all the various iterations over the years. I’m all in favor of a new one, especially one that looks so good.

I love the animation style. It’s gorgeous! It’s so flashy and cool. I love the sense of humor, the sense of action, the understanding of the characters. This looks so damn good! We also got our first looks at the supporting mutants, like Mondo Gecko, Ray Fillet and my favorite, Wingnut. They’re not as cool as I’d hoped they would be, but they definitely fit the style of the movie. So we’ll see how it all plays out on the big screen.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem comes out on Aug. 2.
