Who Knows if Star Wars Outlaws is Going to Be Any Good Or Not?

Star Wars Outlaws is probably the biggest game I’m looking forward to this year. It’s just not a big year for my gaming interests. But who knows if Star Wars Outlaws is going to be any good or not. It’s a new type of game for Star Wars, but it’s made by Ubisoft, who know how to make this kind of game. I don’t hate Ubisoft the way some people online do, so I have high hopes.

Anyway, Ubisoft held a game reveal day yesterday and here are some videos with Outlaws gameplay and details.

I watch those trailers and I still don’t know what to expect from this game. It doesn’t seem to have the freedom of movement of an Assassin’s Creed game. But we’ve got some reputation building aspects. There are spaceships and a speeder. Hopefully a good story. I like the main character.

I guess I just don’t know. As interested as I am in playing this game, I will likely still wait for reviews to see what other people think before I dive in. I’m trying to spend as little money as possible on video games this year. Plus, it’s a Ubisoft game that comes out on Aug. 30. By Thanksgiving it will be 50% off.

What does everybody else think of this game?

There Better Damn Well be a LEGO Thunderjaw After This

Summer Gamefest went down on Friday and we got a bunch of trailers for new video games. I might share the ones I really liked over the coming days, but one trailer stood out for one very particular and important reason.

And that reasons is that I want a LEGO Thunderjaw from the Horizon: Zero Dawn game series.

They’re making a LEGO Horizon game! LEGO Horizon Adventures is going to take Aloy, her allies and her enemies and put them into a LEGO version of their world for normal LEGO gameplay. That’s awesome. That’s great. But that also means someone somewhere has gone to the trouble of virtually building all of Horizon’s robotic dinosaurs out of LEGO.

So surely this means these virtual designs can be transferred over to actual, physical brick designs, right?!

We’ve already got the LEGO Tallneck. It’s a thing of true beauty. I bought it the first day it came out and loved building it. But that’s the only LEGO set we’ve gotten from the Horizons series so far, despite all of those beautiful robo dinosaurs. But this new game has a LEGO Thunderjaw prominently in the trailer. So LEGO better damn well make us a LEGO Thunderjaw set!

Shut up and take my money!

Cool Tomb Raider Anime On the Way

Hollywood has been trying to make Tomb Raider a thing for a long time now. I’m not the biggest Tomb Raider fan in the world. I barely ever played those original games, and only played two of three of the modern reboot. I’m not sure why I didn’t play through that last one even though I very much enjoyed the first two…

Anyway, the people who brought the truly awesome Castlevania cartoon are now making a Tomb Raider one!

I loved that Castlevania show. And while Tomb Raider is not on my List of Six of other games that could use a cool, R-rated cartoon, it’s still a solid option. Everybody loves Lara Croft and all sorts of cartoon magic could happen if you put your mind to it, things that the most recent movie reboot couldn’t get right for whatever reason.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is coming to Netflix on Oct. 10.

Assassin’s Creed is Finally Going to Japan

We all knew this was going to happen eventually. The Assassin’s Creed games no longer have their normal stranglehold on history games, but they’ve finally decided to make an entry in Japan. I’ve largely been a fan of most AC games I’ve played, so perhaps I’ll get my hopes up about Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.

The internet is pretty up in arms about Ubisoft in general. And I’ll admit, I haven’t played probably half of the Assassin’s Creed games. But I loved Origins in Egypt and Odyssey in Ancient Greece, maybe I’ll like the one in Japan? Though I didn’t care for Valhalla…I dunno. The games are the games, and I like the look of this one, so I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.

Here’s a companion video explaining the new main characters, one of them a samurai and one of them a ninja.

Obviously, whatever stupid controversy that exists on the internet has no place here. I like the look and ideas behind both characters. And I don’t have very many games I’m looking forward to this year, so I shall get my hopes up slightly, perhaps.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is coming out on Nov. 15.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is Getting a Sequel!

Have you ever heard of the video game Kingdom Come: Deliverance? I hadn’t until a friend introduced me. It’s like Skyrim, if you replace all the supernatural fantasy stuff with rigid, medieval realism. It’s that same sort of first-person RPG, but these developers are real sticklers for historical accuracy.

For example, in Skyrim, you’ve got three pieces of armor for your head, chest and legs. In Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you’ve got your underwear, your outerwear, protective padding, chainmail and then chestplate…and that’s only for your torso! And each of those pieces of clothing/armor takes damage and needs to be repaired, and can get dirty, which can affect your charisma. And don’t get me started on the insanely steep learning curves for weapon fighting and archery. There’s even a side quest where your peasant character can learn how to read!

Anyway, there’s going to be a sequel this year!

If you don’t have time for that big developer video, here’s the regular trailer.

So I really enjoyed that first game, even though I never finished it. I didn’t have too many games I was looking forward to this year, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is definitely high on my list now! I can’t wait to not get a hang of the sword fighting all over again!

The game will come to all systems by the end of the year!
