My 6 Favorite Things of 2018

It’s that time of year again! My annual roundup of the pop culture I enjoyed, just like every other website and blog worth its salt. But unlike those fancy pants websites with their paid writers and access to advanced screenings, I’m just a schlub typing away at his computer, enjoying what sweet little things come my way!

2018 List 01

Thank god it’s almost over

2018 has been an OK year, I guess. I don’t have any major accomplishments to brag about. I’m still working on making my own comics, with more Gamer Girl & Vixen news to come in the new year. I haven’t lost any weight, but I remain confident that maybe I will someday. And I’m not dead yet! That always counts for something.

The following list is just my favorite, most memorable shows, movies, toys and whatnot I encountered in 2018. Some things, like movies, were released on 2018. Other things, like TV shows and comics, are often ongoing and extend beyond just 2018, but they were my favorites in 2018. It’s not that complicated. And, as always, I am wholly out of touch with new music, so that’s not a category.

Feel free to share your own favorite things from the past year in the comments!

The 6 Most Wicked Snowmen in Pop Culture

Christmas is right around the corner. Hanukkah has already come and gone. The holidays are in full swing and, most importantly for today, winter weather is being a real bitch! So how about we talk about snowmen?

Snowman Evil List 01

Don’t trust him, kids!

Every winter season, I like to do a holiday-themed List of Six that celebrates some portion of this joyful time of year. And I’ve really stretched that idea from time to time. I’ve done elves, reindeer, Jesus, Christmas lights, and the abominable snowman, to name a few. I don’t know what I’m going to do next year, but this year I’ve cobbled together a pretty fun list of the most evil and wicked snowmen in pop culture! I probably could have done good snowmen, but where’s the fun in that?

Voltron Ends Today!

The final season of Voltron: Legendary Defender dropped on Netflix today, and you best believe I’ll be binging it this weekend! Get hype, people! How about a final trailer?

It’s more moody than anything, but  hey, Voltron hype is real! And if you’ve been holding off all this time, here’s your chance to watch the whole darn thing in one sitting! Good luck with that.

6 80s Cartoons That Still Need to be Rebooted

I started watching the new She-Ra and the Princesses of Power cartoon on Netflix this past week and I’m already in love! We have genius showrunner Noelle Stevenson to thank for that, creator of the beloved Lumberjanes. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power hits all the sweet spots that I love in modern day cartoons, with deft attention paid to characters, story, lore and world-building.

80s Reboot List 01

Watch it immediately

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power is only the latest in a long line of cartoon reboots of 1980s classics. There’s a new DuckTales, a new My Little Pony, a new Voltron, a new Inspector Gadget, a new Danger Mouse, and the unending lines of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers reboots. There was an old Thundercats reboot and a new one coming up. We’ve also got new Care Bears on the horizon. The 80s are ripe for nostalgia reboots!

So what’s left? And what do I want to see? Join me after the jump for six suggestions!

We’re Getting More Runaways!

I enjoyed the first season of TV’s Runaways, so the second season should be just as good! We hope!

If it’s even a fraction as good as the current Runaways comic, it’ll be a blast!

Meanwhile, did you hear they cancelled the Daredevil TV show? After Luke Cage and Iron Fist, I really think this is a concentrated move between Netflix and Disney regarding the upcoming Disney+ streaming service. How could it not be? Hopefully we’ll see the Daredevil TV show resurrected…or maybe this frees Charlie Cox up to appear in MCU movies.
