I Don’t Know If I Can Handle Old School Power Rangers

I was a major fan of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when I was a kid in the 1990s. They were my jam! And I’m a huge fan of the Power Rangers comics from BOOM! Studios. But can I handle this old school reunion movie? It looks a bit too cheesy for me…even though I know it’s always been cheesy.

Man, I just don’t know. It’s so campy. But the show was campy. But I’m not a kid anymore! Will I be able to stand it or will it be like nails on a chalkboard? It’s fun to see the actors back, even if not everyone could show up. RIP Jason David Frank. But hey, it’s on Netflix, it should be worth a watch.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always comes to Netflix on April 19.

Check Out the First Ever Live Action Tim Drake Robin

I stopped watching Titans at least one season ago. It just wasn’t very good anymore. It was a live action superhero show that was taking us through the life cycle of the Robins, and I just couldn’t watch anymore. But I keep track, and I know they had a live action Tim Drake in the latest season.

And in the upcoming season, he’s going to become Robin! Check out his suit. That’s actor Jay Lycurgo.

I like it! And I’m always pleased to see another fine example that a Robin costume can work in modern, live action designs. It looks cool, it looks detailed, and it looks like Robin. Unfortunately, from what I understand, there’s no Batman anymore in Titans, so this Tim becomes Robin without Batman. That kinda stinks. But again, I’m not watching, so who am I to judge? I can just sit back and admire a cool Robin costume design.

Movie Trailer Monday

It’s another quiet day in having random things to share on this blog. But it’s Monday, the start of the week, and I should post something, right? Might as well. So here’s a pair of new trailers that came across my desk last week. Will they be good? Maybe! Should you watch them? Watch the trailer first and figure out for yourself.

First up is Beef, about road rage.

Apparently this is a series and not a movie, a mistake I made in the opposite direction with the trailer for Ghosted. Who can even tell anymore?! Movie? Series? life is weird. Anyway, That’s Beer and it’s coming to Netflix on April 6.

Next up is for sure a movie, called Joy Ride. About a couple of party women going on a road trip in China and getting up to all sorts of hijinks.

This is a new movie for Stephanie Hsu, who will hopefully have an awesome career following her Best Supporting Actress nomination for Everything Everywhere All At Once. Also, I’m now noticing that both of these trailers star Asian American actors. That’s cool!

Joy Ride is coming to theaters on July 7.

Some More Random TV Show Trailers!

There’s apparently something going on today where a bunch of TV show trailers are dropping. And since I like watching TV shows, I thought I’d share!

First up is the second season of Schmigadoon. I liked the first season when I spent last summer watching AppleTV+ shows. So many of those shows were good that I have a little bit of hype for any new Apple show (more on that in a bit). So bring on a second season of Schmigadoon!

Schmicago? Yeah, sure! Sign me up! A television journey through the different eras of Broadway musicals sounds like an even better idea than just thinking the show was about some funny song and dance numbers. This show has a message! Season 2 arrives on April 5.

Next up is a brand new show coming to AppleTV+, and like I said above, I’m already thinking pretty highly of what this might entail. It’s called The Big Door Prize and seems pretty whimsical.

Destiny vs. self-actualization? Yeah, that should be fun. I like a good whimsical show, and like I said, I have faith in AppleTV+ and what they produce. So what the heck? Let’s give it a watch! The Big Door Prize premieres on March 29.

Also, I’m in the wrong business. I have a ton of ideas! Why did I never become a successful TV producer, pitching my random ideas and getting them made into shows?!

Dueling TV Show Trailers

Yesterday, in my quest to find something new to post about, I found a pair of brand new trailers for some upcoming streaming TV shows that seem remarkably similar. They’re both spy shows that are also romances between a man and a woman, and both star some famous Hollywood folks. Neat!

First up is the better of the two, in my opinion. This is Ghosted, starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, which is coming to AppleTV+ on April 21.

I really like this one! It’s funny, it’s charming, it’s got a nifty premise; seems really fun. And obviously Evans and de Armas are really entertaining people. I think I might actually watch this one.

Next up is Citadel, which seems far more generic. It’s produced by the Russo Brothers, so that’s nice. And it stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. This one lacks the charm of Ghosted.

Honestly, I can’t even remember what this one is about…zing! Yeah, something about memory loss and true love? Doesn’t looka s appealing, but perhaps it will still be fun. Citadel is coming to Amazon Prime on April 28.
