Today’s bit of funny comes from our old friend Xavier. I always love a bit of Game of Thrones humor. That’s what the Internet is made for. And if you guys and gals spot a funny video or something blog-worthy on the web, feel free to drop me a line at Hench4Hire@gmail.com. Because sometimes I’m just too lazy to find the really good stuff!

6 Things I Want to See in Doctor Who Season 8

The new season of Doctor Who is is right around the corner, and the BBC has begun to release a few snippets of teases of trailers. The build up to Peter Capaldi as the Doctor has felt epic. This really does seem like a momentous occasion, and I can’t wait. I was let down by Season 7, and I hope Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat can turn things around! Say what you will about Moffat, I love most everything he’s brought to Doctor Who. And the cumulative 10 seconds we’ve seen of Capaldi so far have been out of this world!

Photoshop is no one’s friend

So what can we expect from Capaldi’s Doctor? We’ve seen the outfit, we’ve heard the snippets, and I’m sure people smarter than me have found actual descriptions of what we’ll see. But I’m a creative sort of guy. And I have some ideas for Moffat, Capaldi and the whole crew. Join me after the jump for six things I want from the new season of Doctor Who when it returns on Aug. 23!

Doctor Who is Gonna Be Pretty Badass

The new season of Doctor Who with new lead Peter Capaldi is closer than ever, and today the good people behind the show decided to drop a random teaser trailer. It’s not much, but it does offer a glimpse of what might be in store for us fans.

I really like where they might be taking Capaldi’s Doctor. I think I’ll have a few more thoughts in the coming weeks. But for now, know that the new season starts Aug. 23!

6 Thoughts on Game of Thrones Season 4

Wow, what a finale! I had certain fears and expectations for the Season 4 finale of Game of Thrones, but the actual episode blew all of them away! Every storyline seemed to get a really big bump in excitement, and I think it might have been the best finale in the show so far! So it’s a shame that I actually started writing this list before seeing the finale, heh, because that final episode kind of turned my feelings on the season around, at least little bit. Still, let’s not let that deter us, and let’s celebrate Season 4 of Game of Thrones!

I read a pretty good description of Game of Thrones online the other day. It basically pointed out that we missed the big, heroic, happily ever after story decades ago, when the heroic Robert Baratheon and his best friend Ned Stark battled the evil Targaryen family to save the kingdom from madness. That story had everything: handsome heroes, beautiful princesses, epic battles, glorious victories and good triumphing over evil. It also had happy endings. Robert got to marry the beautiful Cersei, and promised to be a just and fair king. Ned got to retire from war to go home and raise his family.

The lesson that follows, of course, is that life doesn’t have happy endings. Life doesn’t just end when the story is over. Life goes on, and it’s never as good as your glory days, and that’s Game of Thrones. It’s the bitter, petty, regretful life that inevitably comes after the Happily Ever After.

Join me after the jump for my thoughts on Season 4! And please note that there will be MAJOR SPOILERS for the entire season!

First Trailer for Legend of Korra Season 3!

Sadly, this is just a wordless teaser trailer, so we can’t much tell what the heck is going on…and there is surprisingly little Korra.

But who’s complaining? Bring on Season 3! Though if I’m being completely honest with myself and you, my loyal Internet readers, I’ve mostly been let down with Legend of Korra as a whole. It’s a fine show, I suppose, but it comes up lacking in probably every comparison to The Last Airbender. I’m also disappointed that the entire show isn’t more serialized. Each season is, sure, but Last Airbender was a three-season epic quest to save the world. In Legend of Korra, the bad guys politely wait their turn for each season.
