My 6 Most Anticipated Pop Cultures of 2024
Happy New Year, everybody! Happy 2024! This year is going to be a good year for me. I’m losing weight. I’ve got some self-published comic book stuff coming up. My New Year’s Resolution is to finally master this banana bread recipe I’ve been dying to make, but kept putting off. And we’ve got…an acceptable amount of cool movies, TV shows and games coming up. Let’s talk about them.
Looking ahead, there isn’t much to be excited about in pop culture, to be honest. Not like last year, when we had a ton of great video games on the horizon, and a lot of movie potential. This year doesn’t have a whole lot. But I took a look around and have made a list anyway! There are some things I’m excited about and looking forward to, with my hopes up. So why not share?
Join me after the jump for six bits of pop culture I’m looking forward to in the new year. And feel free to share your own hopes and dreams for the year ahead in the comments below!

I finally beat Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this past weekend, and the game was mostly a lightsaber parts collection game for me. I love building my own lightsaber, especially when I’m provided with a catalogue of existing parts that I can mix and match. My mental design game isn’t so great as to design one from scratch, but when I’ve got parts? You best believe I’m gonna make something fun and cherish it greatly!
Anyway, what were we talking about?
The Star Wars Jedi games are fun. You’re a largely generic Jedi named Cal Kestis as he carves his way through Stormtroopers and leftover battle droids, set about a decade before A New Hope. He’s got his own cast of characters, hanging out on their own planets, in largely self-contained adventures. They’re pretty fun, but in my opinion, nothing remarkable. They’re also popular enough to warrant a threequel, and based on what I just played, I have some story ideas and other things I’d like to see in a third installment of this series.
So join me after the jump for six things I want to see in our next Cal Kestis adventure. Expect SOME SPOILERS for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as I cobble this list together. And feel free to share your own hopes and dreams in the comments below.

I love Star Wars as much as the next person. I love lightsabers as much as the next person. So I’m more than happy to share this sweet lightsaber I built in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game came out earlier this year, and I only just now got around to playing (it was on sale!).
Check this baby out! I’ve been told it looks like a fancy fountain pen, and I’d have to agree.
For me, Jedi: Survivor was just a lightsaber parts collection game. I enjoy these games well enough, but I don’t really care about the characters, I don’t particularly like Cal Kestis and the story was only so-so. But in the first game, and more so in this sequel, there was a huge emphasis on collecting the parts and then crafting your own lightsaber. And I live for that stuff!
I still have fond memories of my family’s last trip to Disneyworld some 10-15 years ago, and walking into some random toy store and finding a build-your-own lightsaber kiddie table. I went straight to work and still have that baby on display in my apartment. And I long to make the pilgrimage to Galaxy’s Edge to participate in that more professional and more realistic build-your-own lightsaber attraction. I won’t be able to recreate this beauty, because it doesn’t have all of the pieces that the game has, but I’ll still have something.
For now, I’ll just be pleased with this beauty I built in Jedi: Survivor. It would probably have a purple blade in a perfect world.

6 Thoughts on the First Season of Ahsoka (Review)
Another Star Wars TV show has come and gone and I was very excited for this one. Like everyone else in the fandom, I had no faith in Ahsoka Tano when she was first introduced as the kiddie character in a new Star Wars cartoon way back in the day. But she’s now one of my all-time favorite Star Wars characters, and I was very excited for her show. Now that it’s over…meh.
TV Show Rating: 6/10 – Pretty Good
Ahsoka Tano is a very fun character and she’s had a great story. And I really like Rosario Dawson’s live action version. But the Ahsoka show was ultimately a bit of a disappointment in the end. I enjoyed the show for the most part and had high hopes, but I’m not overall happy with the final product. It’s well-made, well-acted, has some neat parts; but the first season didn’t really accomplish much, in my opinion.
Join me after the jump for my full thoughts and review of the first season of Ahsoka. Expect FULL SPOILERS for the whole season. And feel free to share your own thoughts and feelings in the comments below.

The Ahsoka TV show is almost over and there’s only one thing I really care about: the secret history and potential futures of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati. I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet, so maybe every question on this list has already been answered, but I wrote this list anyway. These characters are super damn cool.
I think everyone agrees that Baylan and Shin are the best part about the Ahsoka show. It’s a good show, it’s fine. But does anybody really care about Sabine getting back to Ezra? I watched all of Rebels, but I really, really don’t care. Should we really be all that concerned about Grand Admiral Thrawn when the sequels exist? No thank you. I want to know more about the super cool, super mysterious dark Force-users who have their own agenda and aren’t super predictable.
So join me after the jump for six questions I have about Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati, even if they are super obvious questions.
