Star Wars: The Acolyte Looks Nifty Keen

On May the Fourth, we got a new trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte, the upcoming Jedi show set during the High Republic Era. As foolish as it may be, I’m still optimistic for new Star Wars content. Sometimes it’s amazing, like Andor, and sometimes it’s trash, like Tales of the Empire from this past weekend. But I am not a discerning fan. I’ll watch whatever.

I think it looks alright. We have a lot of content with Jedi, but we don’t have a lot of content with a whole order of Jedi. What’s that going to be like? I think it should be fun to look at a world where Jedi are at the height of their power. And this one is something of a murder mystery as well, even though the trailer pretty much gives away the killer’s identity right away, so…no mystery?

Still, we’ll find out exactly what Acolyte is like when it comes to Disney+ on June 4, which will be here sooner than we realize.

New Star Wars: Outlaws Story Trailer!

I knew if I looked hard enough I’d find some content to share! Out of the blue, saving my Tuesday, is a story trailer for the upcoming video game Star Wars: Outlaws. It’s probably the only video game I’m actually looking forward to this year, and I think the trailer looks good!

I think this could be a fun game. It’s made by Ubisoft, which I don’t think has a good reputation these days, but I’ve mostly loved all the Assassin’s Creed games I’ve played. So Assassin’s Creed in a big, Star Wars open world should be pretty fun! It’s weird. I loved Origins and Odyssey, but I didn’t like Valhalla. So this one will be a shot in the dark!

I enjoy the Star Wars Jedi games, and hopefully this is as fun as those — though Outlaws clearly won’t include a make-your-own-lightsaber bar. That’s gonna count against it for sure.

Star Wars: Outlaws will come out on Aug. 30, just in time for the week I usually take off from work for my birthday!

Tales of the Empire Trailer!

Honestly, I forgot that Tales of the Jedi existed, even though I really enjoyed it. Tales of the Jedi came out a year and a half ago, and told parallel stories about Ahsoka Tano and a young Count Dooku. It had some great chapters and some very interesting character and lore moments.

Welp, apparently it wasn’t a one-off, because now we’re getting Tales of the Empire! It’s going to come out in May and tell parallel stories about Barriss Offee and a young Morgan Elsbeth.

Looks great! I’m confident both of those characters have some good and interesting stories in them. Barriss becoming an Inquisitor should be a neat story. And perhaps Morgan Elsbeth was interesting once upon a time. This could be some good, animated Star Wars content. And I’m content with that.

All of the six shorts of Tales of the Empire will come to Disney+ on May the Fourth.

I Like the Look of The Acolyte

We got our first trailer the other day for The Acolyte, the next Star Wars TV show, and this one promises to be very different from the rest. The Acolyte will take place in the High Republic era, which is actually very exciting to me. I only ever read the first High Republic novel, so I’m not very vested in that world, but just the idea of it holds a lot of promise, I think.

The trailer looks good. So far, The Acolyte looks like it’s going to be an Andor-style world/story, but now with Jedi and lightsabers. That may just be trailer trickery. Maybe somebody told the trailer-maker to make it look more like Andor, the show everybody loves. But if I’m right, that would be awesome! A series story with a real message, and then with Jedi and lightsabers, would be a good show.

The High Republic era has a lot of promise. Let us see a world where Jedi are at the top of their game. Let’s see all those yellow lightsabers in regular circulation! I’m definitely interested in this one.

The Acolyte premieres on Disney+ in June.

Surprise Star Wars Characters Show Up in Bad Batch Season 3

The third and final season of The Bad Batch is coming to Disney+ soon, and it promises to be full of Star Wars action and Star Wars characters. That’s always fun. Personally, I still haven’t seen the second season, but thankfully this trailer doens’t reveal anything too crazy that I missed.

Of course, the big reveal of this trailer is that returning character at the end. No spoilers. I’ve always been a fan of the character, and I’m perfectly happy to see her come back for some awesome action scenes. Why not? Nobody’s ever really gone in Star Wars. As long as the episodes and the action is entertaining.

The third season of The Bad Batch comes to Disney+ on February 21!
