Sometimes the World Really is as Awesome as Teenage Mutant Koopa Troopas

Oh to be James Farr, with the computer wizardry know-how to make brilliant animated video game pop culture mash-ups. If I had skills and could get paid to do it, this might be my life. Like, how about Princess Peach crossed with Kill Bill? Or maybe Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi and Princess Peach as the colorful pilots of Voltron? You can have those for free, James Farr.

Mad X-Men

I don’t watch Mad Men. Maybe like Breaking Bad, it’s one of those shows I should just start watching, and no doubt I’ll start loving it. But sometimes, there are just shows you don’t watch. Thankfully, the kind souls at Union Pool made an X-Men/Mad Men parody. So I think that’s all I need…for now.

Everything Wrong With Daredevil Misses the Most Obvious Wrongness

The Cinema Sins people have aimed their mighty guns at Daredevil, but they missed the biggest mistake in the film!

Do you know what it is?

Early in the film, when that rapist is on the stand, Matt sure seems to think it’s a criminal trial and that this scumbag rapist will face justice, but everything about the scene is totally wrong. Matt is not a prosecutor or a District Attorney, yet he is clearly questioning the accused rapist on the stand as if this is a criminal trial. Also, if this were a criminal trial, the victim would not be sitting at Matt’s table. District Attorneys represent ‘the people’, as in ‘the state’, not the actual victims. The only way this trial could make sense would be if it were a civil trial and the victim was suing the rapist. In which case, even if the court found in favor of the plaintiff, the guy wasn’t going to go to jail or anything.

So Matt Murdock’s view of ‘justice’ is suing acquitted criminals after the fact? I realize they probably got off on the actual criminal charges, so why not become a prosecutor and make sure they don’t get off? Or why not be the kind of defense attorney who defends wrongfully charged people? Which, frankly, can’t be all that often. And there are times when defense attorneys are assigned to a case by a judge, so there’s no way he could only get by without defending some guilty people. That’s what lawyers do.

Pick on Riddick Day

The Riddick movies are an odd franchise. I’m fairly certain they are propelled solely by the will of Vin Diesel, possibly also by the wallet of Vin Diesel. Are there any hardcore Riddick fans out there? Or does he just desperately want a franchise/character to call his own?

He must be doing something right, because I believe Riddick was #1 at the box office this weekend. So that means it’s the perfect time for Cinema Sins to mock both previous movies!

Pitch Black:

Chronicles of Riddick:

And a good time was had by all. I’ve got nothing against Vin Diesel. I rather like the guy. Plus he’s a huge geek, and that’s always a plus in my book. What’s also a plus? Iron Giant.

Make Fun of Iron Man Day

So for some reason, the universe really decided to stick it to Iron Man yesterday, with two completely independent comical films on Youtube. And me being the schmuck that I am, I’m sharing both at the same time!

First up is a pretty hilarious spoof of what it would be like if Mark Wahlberg replaced Robert Downey Jr. This is a spot-on Wahlberg impression by Dave Ebert.

That was made by the fine people at Official Comedy, and it is officially awesome!

Next up is the Honest Trailers take on Iron Man 3. As you know, I enjoyed Iron Man 3 a great deal, but the Screen Junkies definitely have a lot of fun picking it apart. I was fine with the whole Mandarin reveal until watching their video. Now I am kind of upset about the whole thing…

Iron Man took a beating yesterday, but I’m sure he’ll keep on ticking. Onward to Thor in November!
