The New Naked Gun Movie Looks Funny

If you haven’t heard yet, Seth MacFarlane has got Liam Neeson to make a new Naked Gun movie. I’m no Naked Gun purist. I saw them all back when I was younger and they are a fun, unique humor that is timelessly funny. So it’s encouraging to see that same stuff shine through in the full trailer.

There’s also this international trailer with more footage/different editing.

Looks funny. Looks smartly written. The people making this movie know exactly the type of humor they want to use and I think they nail it, at least in this trailer. And Liam Neeson has always been a master of dry comedic delivery. So yeah, I’m probably gonna see this one in theaters!

The Naked Gun comes out on Aug. 1.

6 Things I Want to See in Avengers: Doomsday

We’ve got two new Avengers movies coming up starting late next year, so we’re a ways off. But I was giving Doomsday some thought the other day and realized I’d never done a List of Six on what I hope to see in the movie. I used to do these a lot for Marvel films. So here we are for my own personal hopes and dreams for Avengers: Doomsday in late 2026.

I’m still a major Marvel fan. Say what you will about me, but I’m still loving pretty much everything Marvel is putting out. I cannot fathom how anyone can say the Marvel products are “garbage”. They’re maybe not all amazing and phenomenal, but the films and TV shows are still well-made and very entertaining. I can’t wait to rewatch Thunderbolts* when it comes to Disney+, and Fantastic Four: First Steps is expected to be a highlight of the rest of my year.

So can Marvel make themselves a billion dollar movie-maker again with Doomsday and then Secret Wars? I’m more than willing to find out!

One Last Look at Superman

No comic book reviews this week because I had to go out of town for a bit and just didn’t have time. So instead, how about we watch the final Superman trailer? I normally don’t watch trailers this close to the actual release of the film, but…it’s Superman! Aren’t we all excited for this movie?

Trailer looks good. Movie still looks good. I’ll see it at the first showing my work schedule will allow. I’m really liking the sense of movement when it comes to the flying and the action. It feels like James Gunn is really trying for something new in terms of superhero presentation, like he’s really going to take the viewer on a literal ride as Superman does his thing. That should be neat to witness in its full scope!

Superman comes out on July 11.

Dinosaurs on a Wednesday!

It’s Wednesday, so we’re almost at the end of the week. I’ve got a dentist appointment on Friday, which kicks off a week-long vacation for me. So I’ve got a lot to look forward to! Until then, how about a fun video from Tell It Animated about dinosaurs?

I am not someone who is upset with the idea of feathered dinosaurs. I’m all about science discovering and realizing more truths about dinos. Bring on all the information!

I’m not at all interested in the new Jurassic World movie. I’m mostly upset that they’ve kept the “World” titling. This is a new iteration of the franchise. They should have come up with a new name to use. Jurassic Island? Jurassic Earth? Jurassic Knoll? I dunno. They could have come up with something new.

Alien: Earth is Coming

I’ve never been a big fan of the Alien series. I’m just not that into horror movies. But who am I to deny a franchise when it brings me a potentially interesting new TV show to watch? And for this show, they have crossed the final line and brought the Xenomorphs to Earth.

Looks good to me. But then, it doesn’t take much to impress me. I haven’t done any research on this show. I don’t know what it’s going to be about. I’m pretty sure I saw a Xenomorph in the trailer, so they’re definitely in it and the show isn’t just using the name. I wonder if Sigourney Weaver will make a cameo appearance just because it’s theoretically possible. We shall all find out one of these days!

Alien: Earth comes to FX/Hulu on Aug. 12.
