Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 11/4/17
I’m surprised they don’t have an issue of Mighty Thor on the stands this week. The big #700 issue dropped two weeks ago, but the big Thor: Ragnarok movie event is this weekend! And it’s a great movie! A ton of fun! I’ll be sharing my thoughts on Wednesday.
For now, how about a couple of comics? It was a very light week for me this week, with new issues of Iceman and Iron Fist, alongside the newly returned Captain America. Comic Book of the Week goes to Batman for another stellar issue in Tom King’s ongoing Catwoman romance storyline.
I gave Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man one more chance this week, with the highly publicized issue of Spidey sitting down for an interview with longtime nemesis J. Jonah Jameson — but it didn’t work for me. The concept is interesting, but it doesn’t belong in this series at this moment.
Brian Michael Bendis will always have the definitive confrontation between the two characters in Ultimate Spider-Man. But too much weird stuff has gone on between the two characters in the 616 universe, a lot of which is referenced in the new issue, to make the confrontation as meaningful as it should be.
Comic Reviews: Batman #34, Captain American #695, Iceman #7 and Iron First #74.
I’m Gonna Post the Spider-Man: Homecoming Honest Trailer
Honest Trailers is still going strong, it seems, and they finally got around to Spider-Man: Homecoming. It’s pretty funny.
I debated with myself whether or not I’d keep posting Honest Trailers in light of the sexual harassment claims against creator Andy Signore. That crap don’t fly. But then the rest of the Screen Junkies people aired this big apology, and I’m not going to hold the sins of one against the whole. If you disagree and think I should stop posting Honest Trailers, let me know. I’m not married to them.

I Still Won’t Be Able to Play the New Spider-Man Game
There’s still a fancy new Spider-Man video game coming to the Playstation next year, and it looks pretty cool!
Problem is, I won’t get to play it! Boo! I gave up on console video games awhile ago and use just Steam and my PC. But this game is one of those gosh-darned exclusives! So unless something breaks and it comes to PC a few years down the line, I’m out of luck.
Though I’m not sure if it’s going to be a good game, yet. It looks cool, sure, but where’s the gameplay? What little we’ve seen in the past looks like a bunch of quick-time events. I’m slightly worried. But we’ll see! It’s got the Shocker, and I like that!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 10/28/17
Happy Halloween! The most spooktacular holiday of the year is right around the corner, and if you’re reading this on Saturday, I’m right in the middle of some solid celebrations! I have two costumes this year: Walmart is selling giant animal mascot heads for only $20, so I snagged me a rabbit head! And then I’m going to a zombie party tonight! Should be fun!
But I also had comics to read! And they were pretty much spectacular across the board this week, I was amazed! I wanted to give everything a super high score! From Amazing Spider-Man to Detective Comics to Power Rangers! But I would be remiss if the final issue of the Slott/Allred Silver Surfer didn’t blow me away. Comic Book of the Week for sure!
Perhaps even Comic Book of the Year! I was worried they wouldn’t stick the landing, but oh man, Slott and Co. were saving something really, really special for this final issue. Something that pretty much tied the entire damn story together. My hat is off to the creative team of Silver Surfer. This was a masterpiece from beginning to end.
Comic Reviews: Amazing Spider-Man #790, Batgirl #16, Detective Comics #967, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #20 and Silver Surfer #14.
Runaways Finally Gets a Really Good Trailer
I didn’t care for the first trailer we had for the upcoming Runaways TV show. Thankfully, we’ve randomly got a second one! It’s much better!
We also get a bunch of special effects shots, so that’s cool. I’m excited for the show. I think I’ve heard good things. And I’ve even heard that they might address the Tina Minoru connection to the Doctor Strange movie! That would be great!
