We Have a Kamala Khan!

At long last, it has been revealed that newcomer Iman Vellani has been cast as Kamala Khan for the Ms. Marvel TV show! She’s so new that this is her first acting role!

It’s finally happening!

According to Deadline, Vellani’s only real credit in the world is being on a diversity committee at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival…so that’s something! And it obviously means none of us are going to be familiar with her acting work. But if Marvel Studios is cool with their choice, I definitely support their decision. They are casting wizards!

Marvel Studios hasn’t said anything yet, but they never do. Good for Miss Vellani!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/26/20

This week was a stark reminder of how little comics I actually read. Nothing on my DC pull list came out this week…despite issues of the likes of Superman, Aquaman, Batgirl and many more. I either need to expand my reading list again or…I don’t know. I just need to read more comics!

Plenty of Marvel comics to enjoy this week, though. From the return of Doctor Doom and Spider-Man to the start of X of Swords! Comic Book of the Week goes to Juggernaut #1 because I liked that one the best!

I do like the new design

Meanwhile, I’ve started watching the show Letterkenny on Hulu. It’s pretty fun. Pretty recommended. And Enola Holmes on Netflix was also good. So I’m in a good place when it comes to watchables right now.

Comic Reviews: Doctor Doom #7, Drakon: New Dawn #2, Juggernaut #1, Spider-Man #4, Spider-Woman #4 and X of Swords: Creation #1.

Our First Look at WandaVision is Perfectly Trippy

The pandemic really did a number on all those awesome Marvel TV shows we were expecting. Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been delayed until next year. But it seems we’ll still be getting WandaVision before the end of 2020. In fact, here’s the first full trailer for this trippy show!

Looks amazing! Weird, trippy and all manner of nutso, this trailer looks totally perfect for the show they’ve promised. I can’t wait!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 9/19/20

Good news, everybody! The Harley Quinn cartoon has been renewed for a third season! How wonderful. And oh how we needed good news. Meanwhile, reviews for Batman and a brand new Iron Man relaunch.

Comic Book of the Week goes to Thor #7 because it is legitimately fun and features a whole bunch of Beta Ray Bill! If only the new Iron Man featured a Beta Ray Bill cameo…

Stately

Meanwhile, I skipped the latest issue of X-Men this week. It’s just one big madness-inducing recap of whatever weird new lore Jonathan Hickman is building for Krakoan history? I dunno. He loses me when he delves into this stuff, even more so than when Grant Morrison does it. In better news, I’m playing the Avengers video game finally…though I don’t particularly like it.

Comic Reviews: Batman #99, Iron Man #1 and Thor #7.

Tatiana Maslany to Play She-Hulk!

Crazy big Marvel casting news arrived yesterday in that Tatiana Maslany will play Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk in the upcoming Disney+ show! That’s awesome! Everybody agreed that Maslany was great in Orphan Black, so I’m excited for her as She-Hulk!

This will definitely require a ton of courtroom scenes

The She-Hulk show is set to start filming early next year, so that’s cool. I’m confident they will go with a full CGI/mo-cap look for actual She-Hulk, just like with Professor Hulk in Endgame. These are TV shows gifted with MCU budget, so they’ll make it happen and they’ll make it look great! Disney has every reason in the world to go full speed ahead on making these Marvel shows a must-see for Disney+.

For example, here’s hoping we get that Mark Ruffalo/Hulk cameo! They’ve got to do it, right? There’s no way he skips out on making a quick appearance or two.

Now we go back to waiting patiently for them to cast Kamala Khan!
