My 6 Most Anticipated Comic Book Movies of 2013
Every year, it seems like more and more superhero movies are coming out. Can anyone even remember the cold, bitter years of the 90s, when we didn’t have this glorious glut of comic book films? Those were dark days indeed. But are we reaching some kind of superhero movie zenith? When are we going to reach the peak and then start coming down again? It’s going to happen someday, could it be 2013? Because there are enough superhero and comic book movies coming out this year that I was able to make a list! And can any of them even possibly live up to The Avengers or The Dark Knight trilogy?
Especially considering at least three of the films are almost direct sequels or pseudo-continuations?
When researching this list, I didn’t even know or remember that half of these films are even coming out this year. I try to stay abreast of such developments, but there are so many superhero movies being made or expected to be made that I just lose track. I can still remember when we marked our calendars to expect the next big comic book movie. Now I’m just going to relax and let them come as they will. I mean, we’re pretty set for new films and sequels for the next two to three years at least. For good or ill. But this year looks like it might have more winners than losers.
My 6 New Year’s Resolutions for 2013
My New Year’s Resolution for 2012 was to stop drinking soda. I lasted about two or three weeks before accidentally forgetting while at a basketball game and having a bottle of sweet, sweet Mountain Dew. It was all downhill from there…until I had a checkup in the hospital in September and found I had high blood pressure. After that, I managed to kick the soda and I haven’t had a drop since! So it took a few months, but I managed to fulfill my New Year’s Resolution!
So what about this year?
I know that 2013 is going to be a very good year. I think, if we all put our minds to it, we can totally make it so! And what better way to celebrate 2013 than ensuring that my resolutions succeed! Here are my 6 New Year’s Resolutions for 2013!
6 Awesome Things I Got for Christmas
I love Christmas. And with my family, it’s especially wonderful. Both my immediate and extended family all get together down on our grandparents’ farm and everybody exchanges gifts. We have a big Christmas dinner with delicious food and great desserts. And everybody gets along. Forget what you see in movies or TV where everybody’s drunk or mad at each other. That’s not my family, not on Christmas. Everybody gets along, everybody has a great time, and it’s been that way since I was a wee little henchman.
I also always get awesome presents!
Not that Christmas is just about getting presents. I also really splurge on gifts for others too. I’m not a cash/gift card kind of guy. So even for my distant aunts, uncles and cousins that I don’t see very often, I’ll buy them something cool. Because if they wanted money, I could just loan them money. Christmas is the one time of the year when you go out of your way to buy something nice for the people you love. Here’s a list of the six most awesome things I got for Christmas this year.
6 Most Badass Elves in Pop Culture
Christmas is right around the corner (and Hannukah just ended), so what better time to talk about elves? I mean, what time of the year do you most talk about elves? That’s what I thought. There are many kinds of elves in pop culture. You have your Christmas elves, your high elves, your house elves, your night elves, your dark elves, your cookie elves, your wood elves, your cereal elves; all manner of elf in every shape, size and dainty color. But don’t let their delicate features or diminutive size fool you. Elves can be quite badass.
So for Christmas this year, let’s take a look at the 6 most badass elves in pop culture! And I hope everybody has a Merry Christmas!
6 New Historical Time Periods for Future Assassin’s Creed Games
Good video game franchises never die. No matter how final the ending might seem, no matter the status of the development company, any franchise that makes money is going to live on. Which is good news for us Assassin’s Creed fans! Even though Desmond’s story came to a pretty grim (and lame!) conclusion in Assassin’s Creed 3, I can’t imagine Ubisoft not giving us more games and more historical goodness in the years to come! Shall we begin the countdown to Assassin’s Creed 4?
As everybody knows, the Assassin’s Creed games all take place in the past, with richly detailed recreations of some ancient civilizations for your stabbing pleasure. First we visited Jerusalem during the Third Crusade, then Rome at the height of the Italian Renaissance. A then quick stop in Constantinople preceded a visit to the American colonies during the Revolution! The war between the heroic Assassins and the evil Templar has been waged for centuries all across the globe. Almost any era or historical event is up for grabs.
So where will we go next? Which historical era should we visit in the next Assasin’s Creed game? Especially if that game arrives on next generation consoles, with better graphics and processing power? I’m so glad you asked, because I just so happen to have six suggestions! Join me after the jump.
