My 6 Favorite Aliens

We’re one week removed from the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, and it’s still all everybody’s talking about. Even when FOX tried to score some headlines by revealing their Fantastic Four cast, or Sony released that new Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer, it’s still Guardians of the Galaxy that has people jonesing. Have you seen the Parks and Recreation version? Classic Internet!

But there’s a problem: I already did a Guardians of the Galaxy list! So what the heck am I supposed to do now? How about a list of all of my favorite aliens?

Miniature American flags for all!

Do aliens exist for real? Maybe. I’m of the mind that they’re probably out there somewhere, evolved in ways we can’t even fathom. But I doubt they’ve visited to Earth to abduct cows and rednecks. Aliens have always been big in pop culture. There are probably more made-up aliens and alien races than there are stars in the universe at this point. And here are my personal favorites!

6 Greatest Romantic Missed Opportunities in Comics

I was so excited about The LEGO Movie last week that I totally forgot it was Valentine’s Day! And I had this romantic comic book list all prepared. Welp, fortunately for me, love is an all-year-round sort of thing, and this list works just as good today as it would have last week! It’s a fun bit of speculation game of the top comic book couples I wish would happen. I love a good romance as much as the next person, but for some reason, comic book writers can’t read my mind.

For example: This = Terrible

On the Internet, this sort of thing is known as ‘shipping’. And as much as I enjoy listing my ideal team lineups or what I’d like to see in a potential movie, I’m also a sucker for true love. So here are the top 6 romantic couples in comics that I wish would hook up. And believe me, if I ever get to write comics, these are going to happen.

I’d love to hear some of your romantic ideas in the comments! Please feel free to share.

My 6 Favorite Classic LEGO Themes

The LEGO Movie was awesome! It was more awesome than it had any right to be, and that’s  coming from a guy who expected it to be a great film. The LEGO Movie was transcendently good, touching upon themes and realities that reached both the kid and the adult in of me. I’m so glad I didn’t read any reviews or any spoilers before seeing the movie, because watching it all unfold on its own during the movie was just a fantastic experience.

So, of course, I’m in a LEGO sort of mood.

It’s a good mood to be in

I have been playing with LEGOs for as long as I can remember. I used to own a ton of them when I was a child, and could usually count on my grandmother to get me a few more sets for my birthday or Christmas. I don’t think I ever owned any of the really huge sets, but I had vehicles, and mini-figs and more loose pieces than you could shake a foot at! And my love for LEGO never went away. I still buy the occasional set now that I’m all grown up, just for the fun of putting it together and then adding it to my Geek Wall for display.

But back in the day, I was hooked on LEGOs. Let’s take a trip down memory lane to some of my favorite sets and themes. And please feel free to share some of your own memories in the comments!

6 Bug-Themed Heroes You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

Did you ever wonder why the most popular superhero in the world is based on a spider? What’s up with that? You’ve got to admit, that’s one weird premise. Why not make a superhero based on happiness and good cheer? Though that probably wouldn’t sell as well as spiders, because spiders are both scary and awesome. Well good news, blog fans, I decided to take a trip through ‘awesome superheroes land’ and bring you a bunch of other insanely bug-themed superheroes! Because why should Spider-Man have all the fun?

Class

Probably because he’s the best.

But don’t discount these creepy, crawly characters I’ve dug up! You’d be surprised what some people consider suitable superhero material. Join me after the jump for the six buggiest characters in comics!

6 Sports-Themed Superheroes Not Quite Ready for the Big Game

Super Bowl Sunday is stampeding towards us on the gridiron, and what better way to celebrate than by uniting jocks and nerds into one glorious list? Easier said than done, it seems. This may or may not surprise you, but apparently sports have very little to do with superheroes, despite the fact that both involve men and women dressing up in brightly-colored, often animal-themed costumes for our amusement.

The Buffalo Sabre – Did you know Stan Lee designed superheroes for every NHL team?

In celebration of the biggest game day of the year, I’ve decided to spread the wealth of geekery to my more athletic brothers and sisters. Click the jump to see 6 of the sportiest superheroes and villains in comics! Though I wouldn’t necessarily let any of them go home with the game ball.
