6 Things I Want to See in a Ninja Turtles Sequel
I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. I couldn’t help myself. The film was too energetic to be boring, and I will forever be a lifelong fan of the Ninja Turtles. That’s not to say it wasn’t a ridiculously stupid movie. There were so many plot holes and gaps in logic that I considered making a whole List of Six out of those flubs.
But I’m a positive guy who loves everything Ninja Turtles related! With a sequel already announced, I felt like embracing this franchise and everything it has to offer!
And I’m only maybe talking about the Punk Frogs. One of the things I loved most about the Ninja Turtles cartoon in the 80s was the huge cast of fun and colorful mutants. But Michael Bay and Friends should probably stay away from adding too many new mutants to a movie franchise. So that’s out. I also probably shouldn’t request they change everything, like the stupid new take on the Turtles’ origin. We’re probably stuck with this new status quo, but it’s not so bad, as long as you just ignore it and focus on other parts of the movie.
As bad as this movie might be, we’re looking at a whole new Ninja Turtles franchise here, folks. I, for one, am going to embrace this new madness! Join me after the jump for my six suggestions for the Ninja Turtles sequel!
6 Best Cosplayers at Boston Comic-Con 2014
Hey everybody! You may have noticed that I haven’t been posting anything new to Henchman-4-Hire over the past few days. That’s because I was on vacation visiting friends and family in the Boston area! I had a blast, but didn’t have regular access to a computer, so I missed out on some quality blog posts. I didn’t miss any geeky news over the weekend, did I? DC hasn’t announced their upcoming movie slate, right? My good friend Alyssa helped out with a cartoon, but for the most part, your favorite blog and mine has been quiet. So I appreciate you guys and gals visiting even while I was gone!
Don’t worry, I’m back now, and still on vacation, so expect more updates over the next few days to make up for what I missed! And to start things off, how about a taste of Comic-Con?
I went to Boston Comic-Con this year with my friend Kristi McDowell, who had her own booth at the con, selling her self-published comic A Planet’s Cry. I couldn’t be more proud of Kristi, and I know she sold a lot of books. I’m hoping to join her next year with my own comic…but more on that later, kiddos. For now, we all know one of the best parts of Comic-Con is seeing all of the costumes! I love cosplayers. I’ve done it a few times myself, though I haven’t shared very much here, because I’m a hideous monster who looks bad in photographs. So enough about me, let’s get on to the good cosplayers!

6 Best Ninja Turtle Knock-Offs
After serious contemplation, I think my favorite cartoon growing up in the 80s was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There were a lot of cartoons to choose from, but the Turtles were my favorite. They were great characters, their show was just a lot of fun, and I loved the toyline, which had even more awesome mutants. I loved that there was this endless supply of funny, cool, and radical mutants to collect.
So I’m pretty excited to see the new live action Ninja Turtle movie, even if it threatens to be as soulless as Michael Bay’s Transformers.
But there’s a dark side to my love for the Turtles as well, and that is my love for all of their crappy knock-offs too. Like all successful franchises, the Ninja Turtles spawned more than their fair share of crappy rip-offs. But whereas other companies can’t steal the Transformers without being obvious, it wasn’t that hard to make an action cartoon about anthropomorphic animal superheroes.
Join me after the jump for the best (or crappiest, depending on your point of view) Ninja Turtle knock-offs!
6 Potential Guardians of the Galaxy Recruits
The long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy movie premieres this weekend, and I’m chomping at the bit to get to the theater. Why isn’t it Friday yet?! All of the trailers have been amazing. The early reviews are outstanding. There is every indication that this movie is going to be great!
But it’s not Friday yet, and that means we have to occupy our time and our minds to keep from going mad with anticipation. So how about a new List of Six? I definitely wanted to go Guardians-themed this week, so I decided of celebrating the very comics that gave birth to the new movie! Marvel Comics have always published awesome outer space comics, with cosmic heroes, interstellar villains, sentient planets and more. There will be a ton of these characters introduced to audiences in this new movie, but we comic fans know that there are tons more space-farring heroes who won’t yet get their chance to shine.
So join me after the jump as I present 6 more wild and awesome space characters who would be perfect for that Guardians of the Galaxy sequel in 2017!
The 6 Characters on My Justice League
Welcome to Comic-Con week! I’m not in San Diego, so I don’t get to join in on all the festivities. But the great thing about the Internet is that I can talk up a comic book storm and still feel like I’m part of the fun. One of these days I’ll get to go to San Diego Comic-Con. Maybe when I’m rich.
To celebrate the craziest comic book week of the year, I’ve decided to mirror what I did last year and put together my dream team of a superhero roster. Last year it was the Avengers, this year it’s the Justice League!
And I’m talking a New 52 continuity Justice League.
Personally, I like the idea that the Justice League is made up of the top superheroes at DC Comics. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and the rest are a solid lineup that holds a lot of weight in the hearts and minds of the fans. But how boring would it be if my list was just the same old seven heroes? So I’ve decided to get a little creative.
If DC Comics hired me to write the Justice League comic, and gave me cart blanche to include whoever I wanted in the roster, these would be the 6 characters on my team. I would love to hear your own dream team lineup in the comments!
