An Unexpected Rap: There and Back Again
Frog Island brings us this Hobbit-themed rap video. It’ll do until Dan Bull makes one of his own.
The Best Dragonball Z Fan Film Ever!
And that’s not just hyperbole. I’d like to see anyone else – including Hollywood – make one better than this. These fans are the real deal.
That is impressive work. The costumes, the acting, the looks. I love that Vegeta seems to be wearing a painted cycling chest guard. Everything is just so well done. I mean, it’s clearly an amateur job, but there is a lot of heart behind it. Plus Tien, my favorite character, gets some awesome scenes. This is what true geekery is about, people. The film was made by K8K Productions out of England. Kudos to them.
It’s Alive! It’s Alive!
Now you can play picaboo with a lamp!
Created by students at Victoria University, the lamp can track and register faces and sounds. Not only that, but stay tuned towards the end of the video, where it demonstrates the power to fight for its life! When the guy tries to turn the off switch, Pinokio defies the very order of humans and appliances! So watch out, everybody. The Robot Apocalypse may be starting right here. Just look at how adorable that lamp is and tell it won’t soon be asking you about love.
The Great Geek Dark Knight Rises Project
All hail Ben “kinjamin” Deguzman as the greatest Batman dream artist ever!
According to his Deviantart page, it sounds like kinjamin is just having his own bit of fun designing characters and plots to follow up on Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. John Blake as Batman, of course, but he’s got a ton more. I’ve included them after the jump, including a take on Robin and an ingenious take on Huntress that I can’t believe never occurred to me. Kinjamin makes sure all of his ideas fit with established movie continuity, and it’s just very cool. I love that kind of fan fiction creativity. And the fact that he took it a million steps further with this awesome art is just beyond brilliant.
Join me after the jump for Robin, Huntress, Harley Quinn, Batgirl and a new Two-Face. He’s also promised more images to come someday!
Jocks Are Geeks Too
I don’t care much about sports. When comic books and video games are my thing, football and basketball tend to get pushed to the side. Such is the Circle of Life. But we’re not living in an 80s movie, people! Jocks can be geeks too! Check out this episode of ESPN NFL Kick-Off, where the anchors insert as many Princess Bride references as possible!
That sort of fun is why I still have faith in humanity.
