Oh Universe, You So Adorable!
Just when DC Comics seems poised to continue to be terrible, they have to go and do something downright adorable! Apparently in November, they’re going to have some fun and make a bunch of LEGO variant covers.
DC may be generally terrible with stories, art, crossovers, character progression and everything else, at the very least, they’ve got some neat variant covers!
Well, unless you count those horribly sexist bombshell covers they had only a few months ago. Come to think of it, what’s with all the novelty variant covers? Isn’t there one for selfies coming out soon too? And September is that Future’s End theme month, with variant covers. What’s going on?
Are they…are they trying to distract us? Is that it?
Well…mission accomplished! I love LEGOs! You can check out a huge gallery of the covers over at Bleeding Cool! Yeehaw!

Hench-Sized Comic Book Reviews – 8/2/14
How awesome was Guardians of the Galaxy? I had my doubts in the very beginning, but man oh man, that movie rocked! Physically, metaphorically and musically! Expect my full movie review either later today or tomorrow. Maybe I’ll go see it again!
For now, how about we bask in some comic book love? Though, foolishly, I didn’t bother reviewing the newest issue of Guardians of the Galaxy. What can I say, I don’t particularly care for the comic. But I do love me some Uncanny X-Men, Hawkeye and Harley Quinn, all of which we got to enjoy this week.
Comic Book of the Week goes to New Avengers #21, because writer Jonathan Hickman is really pushing our favorite superheroes beyond the breaking point.
Comic Reviews: Batman Eternal #17, Harley Quinn #8, Hawkeye #19, Justice League #32, New Avengers #21, Red Lanterns Annual #1, and Uncanny X-Men #24.
And here’s my review of Cyclops #3.
Arrow is Going Wild – Meet Wildcat
Ever since Arrow hit it big (and is spawning a successful Flash spin-off), DC and Warner Bros. have just started announcing a ton of new superheroes for the show! They’ve already announced the Atom and Firestorm and others I’m suddenly forgetting. Well now they’re adding Wildcat, because why not?
He will be played by a guy named J.R. Ramirez.
Thanks to Michael for the tip!
Wildcat, otherwise known as Ted Grant, will be a former boxer who now runs a gym for underprivileged youth. He’s apparently going to play a big part of Laurel Lance’s story arc in Season 3, possibly confirming that she’ll take over as Black Canary before too long? That’s kind of a shame, since Laurel is the worst, but Sarah is the best.
As far as I’m concerned, Arrow can just keep introducing hero after hero!
So Many New Trailers
Comic-Con came to an end on Sunday, and while there wasn’t too much big news coming out of the last few panels, there are some snippets we can all enjoy, like trailers. Unfortunately, all the test footage from Batman v. Superman, Avengers 2, Ant-Man, Warcraft and others isn’t going to hit the web anytime soon. But there are some official trailers we can enjoy on this mind.
Trailers like…
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1
Gotham
Mad Max: Fury Road
Constantine
And stay tuned later today for a possible trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies!

First Look at Movie Wonder Woman
Comic-Con is in full swing today, and DC Comics/Warner Bros. has unveiled the first image of Wonder Woman from the upcoming film, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (which will include a Wonder Woman cameo).
I like it! Looks tough and Wonder Womany. Not very colorful…but that’s OK. I probably didn’t want her wearing star-spangled panties. These DC movies just aren’t going to be very colorful, we have to accept that. They’re gonna be dark and dreary. So in that sense, this costume looks good.
